The TREK Women’s Triathlon Series may have made its Pleasant Prairie debut on Sunday, but it ended in familiar fashion ... with Lauren Jensen on top.

Jensen continued her dominance of the Pleasant Prairie course originated at the LakeView RecPlex. Jensen won Sunday’s TREK in 1 hour, 1 minute and 42 seconds. The Muskego resident has captured the last two Pleasant Prairie Triathlons and is the four-time defending Danskin Triathlon champion.

Jensen, 42, topped the pack of 2,544 finishers in many age and team divisions. She outdistanced Kimberly Goodell, 29, of Chicago who turned in a 1:04:48. Stacy Kiefer was third in 1:05:47. Jensen turned in the best times in the half-mile swim (9:27), 12-mile bike ride (29:52) and 3.1 mile run (19:22)

Sheri Villani, of Pleasant Prairie, was the top local finisher taking 12th overall in 1:12:39, good for first in the 40-44 age division. Pleasant Prairie’s Nicole Beddigs took the 35-39 division and was 16th overall in 1:13:11. In the Family Division, Team Wagner of Kenosha captured the title and finished 24th overall in 1:15:31.

Other locals to finish in the top 10 of their respective divisions included:

n Bristol’s Debi Nutting, 54, third in the 50-54 in 1:22:38.n Kenosha’s Jen Connell, 36, sixth in the Athena Division in 1:26:52.n Kenosha’s Chera Hessnethaler, 28, eighth in the 25-29 (and 53rd overall) in 1:18:15.n Kenosha’s Cyndi Sherman, 46, ninth in the 45-49 in 1:22:55.n In the Family Division, Team Primo Donnas from Pleasant Prairie took second in 1:30:20. Also in that division, Team Sheehan Girlz 1, of Pleasant Prairie, took ninth in 1:45:18.n In the Friends Division, Bristol’s Team Gomer Girls took sixth in 1:25:00.

Sunday’s race is one of eight TREK Women’s Triathlon series events scheduled for this year. Other markets include Austin, Texas; Denver, Disneyland and DisneyWorld resorts in California and Florida, Seattle, New York (metro area) and Mount Snow, Vt.

The Pleasant Prairie junior and adult triathlons are set for the weekend of August 15-16, and the Danskin Triathlon will take place September 27.
