Jensen triumphs once again in Pleasant Prairie
Lauren Jensen may hail from Muskego, but Pleasant Prairie has become her home away from home.
Jensen captured her third consecutive Pleasant Prairie Triathlon women’s overall title on Sunday. She completed the International course around Prairie Springs Park and Lake Andrea in a time of 2 hours, 5 minutes and 34 seconds.
Jensen’s Sport Beans teammate Daniel Bretscher won the overall title in 1:52:36.
The International course featured a 1.5-kilometer swim, followed by a 40-kilometer bike ride and a 10-kilometer run.
Besides capturing the last three Pleasant Prairie titles, Jensen has dominated other events on the course — winning the last five Danskin Chicagoland Triathlon crowns and capturing the inaugural TREK Women’s Triathlon earlier this summer.
Jensen has competed in 15 countries since taking up triathlons in 1985, but always returns to Pleasant Prairie.
“The course is beautiful,” Jensen said. “The views of the lake keep you going. I’ll keep coming back.”
Bretscher, a 26-year-old from Greencastle, Ind., was equally impressed with the event, which went off for the eighth consecutive year behind LakeView RecPlex.
“This is my first time here and I didn’t realize how many (entrants) were in the field,” Bretscher said. “It was a great crowd and atmosphere.”
Results from the International and Sprint distance triathlons and the duathlon were not available to the News at press time. Division winners and local results from the events will appear as they are received.
