Kings rally past the A’s in the eighth
Ferro cleans upin SheboyganThe Kenosha Kings broke the game open with five runs in the top of the eighth inning in an 8-5 Wisconsin State League victory over the Sheboygan A’s on Thursday night at Wildwood Park.
With the bases loaded and the score tied 3-3 with one out in the eighth, Joe Ferro belted a bases-clearing double to give the Kings the lead for good.
“That was the big hit of the night,” Kings interim manager Jason Dennis said.
Dennis and Mark Cibrario then added two-out RBI singles to make it 8-3.
Jason Bunton (2-1) allowed four runs on nine hits in eight innings for the win. He walked two and struck out three. Chris Wolcott gave up one run in the ninth.
Cibrario went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Dennis and John Hasser also had two hits to lead a 12-hit attack. Paul Pulera reached base three times, scored two runs and stole two bases.
Brad Medina helped give the Kings a 2-0 lead with a solo home run in the second inning.
The Kings (27-13, 14-7 WSL) host the Manitowoc Bandits in a State League doubleheader 1 p.m. Saturday at Bradford’s Wavro Field.
