Fishing from my stream of consciousness:

*Hey, hey! Tom Ricketts is days away from taking control of the Chicago Cubs.

You’re a Cub fan.

You love the Cubs. You’ve stuck by them through thin. You’ve suffered through Brock, Maddux, Durham, Bartman and Milton Bradley.

You deserve to be heard.

If you had a few moments with Ricketts, what would you tell him? What suggestions would you give him about the team, management, Wrigley Field, the game, the neighborhood or the broadcasts?

Let me know at dmarran@kenoshanews.com or on line at kenoshanews.com. Who knows? Maybe Ricketts will get ahold of your suggestions.

Oh, and if you’re NOT a Cub fan, I wouldn’t mind hearing from you either.

*Feedback: Gary Hagen, who is quickly turning into one of my favorite readers, responded to my call for sports mandates.

Hagen would like to Congress mandate the following:

*Major League Baseball shall have a 150 game schedule, with the regular season ending Sept. 15 and the playoffs starting Sept. 17. This will eliminate the possibility of a Game 7 of the World Series being played in November, which would be the case this year.

*Homefield advantage for the World Series shall be determined solely by the winning percentages of the participating teams. Having the winner of the All-Star game deciding homefield advantage is sheer lunacy. This policy will mercifully be abolished forever.

*At least two World Series games will begin no later than 6 p.m. Central time. This will allow younger (and older) fans the opportunity to watch an entire game, rather than falling asleep somewhere around the sixth inning.

*Feedback II: Loyal reader Tom Rizzo also chimed in with some of his sportsworld proposals:

Among them:

*No pro basketball or hockey after Memorial Day.

*Doubleheaders to shorten the Major League Baseball season.

*Designate Friday nights “High School Football Night.”

*Tom wasn’t completely sold on my proposal to schedule all County football rivalry games on separate dates. However, Tom would like to see one tweak when it comes to the County clashes. “I would much rather prefer that the schedule makers move those games to a Friday night,” he said. “I (understand) the reasoning for the Wednesday games because of the playoffs starting the following week (but) I’d rather have them play a week or two earlier on a Friday than wasting those games on hard to get-to middle of the week Wednesday. Like you said, Friday is the day for high school football.”
