I don’t think happy-go-lucky country boy Brett Favre knows what he is in for on Nov. 1.

When Favre brings his new team into Lambeau Field to play the Packers on that Sunday afternoon, he will be greeted by a reception of vitriol the likes of which Lambeau Field has never seen.

The boos, jeers, signs and catcalls directed at Favre will make the entrances of Mike Ditka, Dick Butkus, Terrell Owens and Randy Moss look like a 6-year-old’s birthday party.

I base that prediction on the atmosphere I witnessed a week ago for the Packers-Bears game at Lambeau Field.

Packer fans used to be interested in showing off their disdain for the Bears, which is one of the endearing qualities about the NFL’s oldest and most revered rivalry.

There was some of that, but the Packer faithful put way more work into expressing displeasure for Favre than they did at jabbing the Monsters of the Midway. I counted at least a dozen different T-shirts and countless other signs and buttons just lambasting Favre.

Among the offerings: ‘We’ll Never Forget You, Brent;’ ‘Benedict Favrenold;’ and ‘12>4.’

The most telling expression was scrawled on the back of what once was a perfectly good Packer road jersey. Above the No. 4, it read ‘JUDAS.’

Some are hoping Favre’s return to Green Bay is met with nothing.

“Rather than boo our former quarterback, we wish for all Packer fans to support our team, all our teams, past and present,” a press release to me from Stadium Sports and Memorabilia read last week.

“When Favre and the Vikings exit the tunnel onto the field, let’s not shout, let’s just have complete and utter silence.

“Voice your displeasure with a cold shoulder.”

Stadium Sports and Memorabilia, which is two blocks from Lambeau Field, is hoping to make Favre’s return a “cleansing ceremony” for Packer fans.

Referring to the game date as “Black Sunday,” the store will be holding an event on Halloween Night where Packer fans can dye their Favre jerseys and shirts black.

“Saint Vince” will kick off the event with a few words over the cauldrons as he churns the water black.

“Our belief and hope is this ‘Rite of Passing’ will help cleanse the collective Packer conscious,” the release said.

“Remember: Old legends never die, but their jerseys can!”

Packer fans are then invited to wear their blackened Favre apparel to the game and shower him with silence.

“Let’s turn the frozen tundra into a field of ‘Black Ice, ’ ” the release said.

Good luck that day, Bert.
