Four of Bradford’s nine victims made the playoffs.
The Red Devils had no trouble disposing Racine Park, Oak Creek, Franklin and Tremper in Southeast Conference play. Bradford beat those teams by an average score of 36-12.
Tremper was 1-3 against playoff teams. The Trojans defeated Oak Creek but lost to Franklin, Bradford and Racine Park.
St. Joseph was winless against the field. The Lancers lost to Burlington Catholic Central, Greendale Martin Luther and Racine Lutheran.
No sub-.500 squads
Wilmot shouldn’t feel bad about being left out of the playoff field. The Panthers were hoping a 3-4 conference record would sneak them into playoffs.
Normally, teams with below .500 conference records don’t get into the playoffs. But if there weren’t enough teams with winning or .500 conference marks to fill out the field, Wilmot could have found itself in the playoffs.
There were no teams in the field with a sub-.500 conference record.
Conference call
Five of the eight schools in Bradford and Tremper’s Southeast Conference made the playoffs. Along with Bradford and Tremper, SEC schools in the playoffs are Franklin, Oak Creek and Racine Park.St. Joseph was one of four Midwest Classic South Conference teams to make the field. The others: Burlington Catholic Central, Greendale Martin Luther and Racine Lutheran.
Schedule strength
Bradford’s foes wound up with a combined record of 33-48 while that number reads 34-47 for Tremper and 35-45 for St. Joseph. The combined record of the non-conference foes of Bradford, Tremper and St. Joseph was 15-48.
Largest enrollments
Bradford and Tremper are — by far — the two most populous schools in the playoff field.
Tremper’s enrollment is listed at 4,149 while Bradford’s is at 3,979 on the WIAA’s list of playoff qualifiers. Stevens Point is third at 2,301. At 306 students, St. Joseph is the 17th largest school in the 32-team Division-5 field.
