Nine locals heading to WIAA State Tennis Tournament
Bradford sophomore Karyn Guttormsen (27-1) received a No. 7 seed in next week’s WIAA Division-1 State Individual Tennis Tournament, becoming the highest seeded singles player in school history for the second consecutive year.
The WIAA released the special qualifiers and pairings for the Division-1 and Division-2 singles and doubles bracket on Saturday.
The tournament will be held Thursday through Saturday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.

Guttormsen, who entered as the No. 8 seed last year, is one of nine local players to secure a State Tournament berth.
Tremper’s Megan Humphreys (22-7) is seeded 13th in the singles bracket, while the Trojans’ No. 1 doubles team of Jenna Humphreys and Brianna Riley (20-9) is unseeded.
Bradford sophomore Trina Capelli (18-3) was added to the singles field as a special qualifier.
In Division-2, St. Joseph’s Amanda Dick (22-4) was awarded the No. 3 seed in the singles bracket, while and teammate Gina Matteucci (21-2) advanced as a special qualifier.
St. Joseph’s No. 1 doubles team of freshmen Alaina Anderson and Megan Irving (16-8) were also added as a special qualifier.
