Parkside women done in by Missouri-St. Louis’ 19-0 run

An extended first-half run by Missouri-St. Louis led to a 74-50 Great Lakes Valley Conference loss for the UW-Parkside women’s basketball team Thursday at the Mark Twain Building in St. Louis.

The Rangers (4-7 overall) lost their fourth straight and remained winless in the GLVC at 0-3.

Parkside actually led 20-19 with 11 minutes, 20 seconds left in the first half but missed its next nine shots and went scoreless over the next 8:19 as the Tritons (11-1 overall, 4-0 GLVC) went on a 19-0 run to build a 38-20 lead.

Missouri-St. Louis led 44-25 at halftime, and the lead swelled to as many as 27 points in the second half.

Parkside shot just 37 percent (17-of-46) against the GLVC’s top scoring defense. Danielle Slivka paced the Rangers with 14 points, while Gaby Bronson had 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Tritons’ Hazaria Washington led all scorers with 22.
