Putting a lid on Bradford’s season
Here are some comments the Kenosha News received after Bradford’s 35-28 loss to Milwaukee Marquette in a WIAA Division-1 State quarterfinal football game Saturday at Indian Trail Stadium:
* Jan Bieschke, Plymouth, Wis., via e-mail: “When the disappointment subsides, we hope that each member of the Bradford Red Devils coaching staff and each player will hold the pride that this 2009 season afforded the Bradford school, the Kenosha community and each of us as family supporters.
“We are so very proud of your accomplishments. You played hard and we thank you for the enjoyment received as we observed the discipline, dedication and teamwork that has brought you through a tremendous football season. Congratulations!”

* Thomas Bostetter, Nashville, Tenn., via kenoshanews.com: “I want to congratulate Bradford on a great season. You have done yourselves proud with your outstanding effort on the field.
“When you get old and remember back to this year you can take the words of Oliver Wendell Holmes as your own: ‘We have shared the incommunicable experience of war. We have felt, we still feel the passion of life to its top. In our youths, our hearts were touched with fire.’
“Go Bradford! You rank with the best of the best in team history.”
* “Termanater” via kenoshanews.com: “Bradford was robbed by the lousy officiating crew all night. If they didn’t know the rules, they shouldn’t call the game. That, coupled with some stupid penalties and mistakes, cost Bradford the game. Marquette has nothing. Need a little more discipline for the Red Devils. There is no reason they should (have) lost this game.”
* Susy via the Kenosha News Facebook page: “It’s too bad our Red Devils didn’t take the win (Saturday) but I’m still so proud of their effort and good team work this season. Way to go! Congratulations to Coach Kennedy and his team of coaches, too!
* J.S., via kenoshanews.com: “Isn’t it funny how the Kenosha News finds high school football more important than the health care bill that was passed (Saturday) night? Really goes to show the quality of the paper when one of the most consequential legislation of the generation is found inferior to football. But, then again there are lots of examples of the how much quality goes into the Kenosha News.”
* Hillbilly, via kenoshanews.com: JS, Maybe you should consider moving to another town where they don’t care what positive things the youth in the community are doing. Get a grip on your thoughts! Gee whiz! Oh, by the way, is the glass half-full or half-empty?”
* “Termanater” via kenoshanews.com: “Nice to see the scoreboard didn’t hold up the whole season (the scoreboard clock at Indian Trail did not function in the final minute Saturday). Junk it. Tear it down and rebuild it with no cost to anyone but the maker. What (a) piece of JUNK!”
