Rangers set for exhibition at UW-M
Consider it the new, new-look UW-Parkside men’s basketball team.
With an overhauled roster for the second consecutive year, the Rangers open their 2009-10 season with an exhibition game against NCAA Division-1 UW-Milwaukee 7 tonight at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee.
The game will be aired live on WRJN-AM 1400 and on the Internet at www.parksiderangers.com.
Parkside has nine newcomers and just one returning starter from last year’s disappointing 7-20 campaign.
The Rangers face the Panthers in an exhibition game for the fifth consecutive season. Parkside introduced a number of new players in last year’s 75-59 defeat against host UW-M. Parkside hasn’t beaten UW-M since pulling off a 77-71 victory in 2006.
UW-M opened its exhibition season Wednesday with a hard-fought 74-72 win over Cardinal Stritch at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Panther forward James Earys finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds. UW-M starting guards Tone Boyle and Ricky Franklin missed the game due to injury and are questionable for tonight’s game.
WomenThe UW-Parkside women’s basketball team looks to knock off its second NCAA Division-1 opponent this week in facing UW-Green Bay in an exhibition game noon today at the Kress Center in Green Bay.
Parkside’s Jadee Rooney beat the buzzer with a game-winning shot as the Rangers edged UW-Milwaukee, 57-56, at the Klotsche Center on Sunday. UW-Green Bay blasted St. Norbert, 78-47, in an exhibition opener on Oct. 31.
