Special softball season comes to an end for CLS
Fifth-seeded Christian Life committed four errors leading to four unearned runs in its 6-2 loss to third-seeded Greendale Martin Luther in a WIAA Division-3 regional final Saturday at Prairie Springs Park.
After winning seven games combined the past two seasons, the Eagles finished 2009 with a 14-8 record.
Martin Luther (12-10) broke the game open with three runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth. Christian Life, which had two hits — both singles — scored single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Eagles pitcher Brie Tennyson (14-8) was the tough-luck loser. The freshman standout allowed three hits, walked two and struck out 11, bringing her season strikeout total to 259.
First-year Christian Life coach Tim Knight said Tennyson and seniors Kelly Rintelman, Kristi Shaw, Megan Pennock and Jasmine Dillard “raised the level of expectation on and off the field this season.”
