KENOSHA — The St. Joseph girls basketball team survived a one-point first quarter in downing St. Thomas More 43-37 in a Metro Classic game on Wednesday at St. Joseph.
The Lancers trailed 8-1 after one and 16-10 at halftime but used a 17-point third quarter to get back in the game. St. Joseph led 27-23 after three.
BURLINGTON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 47, ST. JOSEPH 41
Burlington Catholic Central outscored St. Joseph 17-6 in the final quarter to rally for a 47-41 victory in Metro Classic Conference action in Burlington on Tuesday night. ... Ali Wiemer had a team-high 15 points and Sophie Foote added 10 of her 12 points in the fourth for BCC (5-14, 4-9 MCC). ... Jacori Witt had 11 points to lead the Lancers (5-14, 4-10 MCC). ... “We must put a full four quarters of basketball together,” coach Lynell Collins said. “The fourth quarter we couldn't knock down any shots. We will continue to work at it and try and finish the season strong.”

The St. Joseph girls basketball team scored only three points in the first quarter and the shooting percentage didn’t improve much after that in a 37-32 non-conference loss to visiting Lake Forest Academy on Monday night.
The Lancers (5-12) shot 22 percent from the floor in the game (13 of 59).

The Shoreland Lutheran girls basketball team limited upset-minded St. Joseph to one basket in the opening 11 minutes 57 seconds of the second half and pulled away for a 50-39 Metro Classic Conference victory on Tuesday night at Madrigrano Gymnasium.

Allazia Blockton had 21 points and 12 rebounds as Whitefish Bay Dominican defeated host St. Joseph 55-30 in a Metro Classic Conference game on Thursday night. ... The Knights (8-2, 4-1 MCC) also got eight points from Mishayla Jones. ... Kate Clark led St. Joseph (2-8, 2-6 MCC) with 12 points, while Jacori Witt chipped in eight in the loss. ... “Our girls came out and competed tonight. We just couldn't hit any shots,” St. Joseph coach Lynell Collins said. “This game will benefit us down the road.”

One bad quarter was enough to sink the St. Joseph girls basketball team.
The Lancers were outscored 19-2 in the third quarter in falling to visiting Racine St. Catherine’s, 57-43, in a Metro Classic Conference game Saturday night.
The St. Joseph girls basketball team will enter its first year as a member of the Metro Classic Conference with a new coach. Lynell Collins, an assistant with the St. Joseph boys for the last three years, takes over for Joe Hettinger, who spent one season on the bench.
The Lancers must replace three key players from last year’s 10-13 team that beat Brookfield Academy in a WIAA Division-4 regional semifinal and lost to Shoreland Lutheran in a regional final.
The Shoreland Lutheran girls basketball team will face its biggest Metro Classic Conference test of the season when it travels to Racine Prairie 7:30 tonight.
Shoreland (4-3 overall) and Whitefish Bay Dominican are tied for first place in the nine-team league at 3-0 while Prairie right behind at 3-1 (6-1 overall). Dominican handed Prairie its lone loss on Dec. 4, 64-52.
