Franklin wrestled the Southeast Conference Tournament title away from the Tremper tennis team on Saturday,

The Sabers finished with 44 points, while the defending champion Trojans had 41 in the 10-team tourney. Oak Creek and Racine Horlick tied for third at 231/2 points. Bradford was seventh with 71/2 points.

Appearing in championship matches at four flights, the Trojans went 2-2 on the day.

Top-seeded Jake Humphreys capped a perfect tourney at No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over third-seeded Alec Sawalski of Racine Horlick. On Thursday, Humphreys won both of his matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores after receiving a first-round bye.

At No. 1 doubles, the top-seeded duo of Tomas Goldsmith and Connor Hildebrandt outlasted second-seeded Chris Besaw and Andy Bjerregaard of Racine Case, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-2. Hildebrandt won the No. 4 singles title last year. Besaw and Bjerregaard were denied back-to-back crowns at No. 1 doubles. They defeated Goldsmith and Matt Tithof for the title in last year’s meet.

Second-seeded David Carswell was unable to defend his title at No. 1 singles. In a rematch of last year’s final, top-seeded Jeff Lotz of Racine Horlick topped Carswell, 6-3, 6-4. Carswell defeated Lotz in a thriller last year, 7-6, 3-6, 7-6.

At No. 4 singles, unseeded Andrew Fields saw his impressive tourney run come to an end as top-seeded Sam Miller of Franklin rebounded for a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory. On Thursday, Fields knocked off the No. 2 and 3 seeds.

In an All-Kenosha third-place match at No. 2 doubles, third-seeded Adam Gagliardi and Jacob Riley of Tremper defeated fourth-seeded Colin Painter and Paul Westhoff of Bradford, 6-2, 6-4.

At No. 3 doubles, Tremper’s third-seeded team of Zach Cooper and Jacob Larsen defeated fourth-seeded Ryan Holt and Chris Ziolkowski of Muskego, 6-3, 6-3.

In an All-Kenosha fifth-place match at No. 3 singles, third-seeded William Horn of Tremper defeated Bradford’s Eugene Eldridge, 6-1, 6-1.

Bradford’s Anthony Greco and Ron Palmen won their fifth-place match in three sets at No. 1 doubles.

Franklin, which won its last SEC tourney championship in 2007, won titles at No. 3 and 4 singles.
