 NO UNIFIED EMPLOYEE WANTED IT??
John Smith 09/16 at 02:52
 | You mean to tell me NO one employed in the Unified wanted the Tremper job? Because we know it would have to go to a Kenosha Unified employee first before an "outsider" don't we? Hard to believe not one "in House" Tremper person was even interested don't ya think? Seems like from John Wilhelmson resigning to the new hiring something stinks real bad here........... |
|

Unified Employees DID want it! 09/16 at 18:47
 | It's refreshing to see that people in our community are not fooled one bit by this charade. Shame on you Scott Lindgren. The article states that you hired Savaglio, yet the grapevine whispers that you weren't even part of the process. How do you sleep at night knowing full well what is going on behind the scenes? How can you let Aiello run a great coach out of his job, then stand back and watch him undermine the district's hiring policy in order to appoint Savaglio? Is this how the rest of the district is run? Why was the current varsity assistant skipped over? His resume reads like an NBA coaches when juxtaposed with Savaglio's. Two years of pee-wee coaching for your resume, are you serious? You're going to take a prestigious position like this on short notice, step in, and do these young men justice? Please, get over yourself. Do these people think that John Q Public is that clueless? Do they not see through the transparency of their own plot? This was probably in the works for months, the two of them waiting for opportunity to come a knockin'. Why weren't the other coaches on staff offered the position? After digging around a bit I learned that one of them has extensive coaching experience yet wasn't even interviewed. I hate to think about the reasons why this particular coach wasn't considered (yes he is African American), but one has to wonder if other sinister motives weren't involved. I won't say it, but you know where I'm going. What about the OBVIOUS and numerous conflicts of interest surrounding this entire ordeal. Aiello has two sons in the program, and Savaglio has one. It seems that the relationship between these men is no secret around town. Are we to believe that all candidates really had a fair shot at this position? Are we to believe that all Tremper students will get a fair shot to make this team? Nepotism seems alive and well in KUSD politics people, and we don't have to stand for it. We pay these people's salaries, we need to let them know that this behavior is simply and unequivocally not tolerable. The more we learn about this situation, the more it seems down right criminal! Anyone intelligent enough to see what is happening here needs to be vocal about this matter. Call the KUSD human resources deptartment, call Joseph Mangi, call Tremper, voice your objections to this matter. It may be just a game, but these actions transcend basketball. If this is the method that individuals like Aiello are allowed to employ, just think what else they can do. This entire process stinks to high heaven. As the late Edmond Burke once eloquintly stated, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." |
|
The stink is all around KUSD.
Robin 09/17 at 09:36
 | I personally am overwhelmed at the spider web effect of bad underhanded palm greasing lurking in the shadows. Then presented as pretty pictures in thr spot light. What great examples we set for our youth. |
|

09/22 at 18:36
 | Bottom line.. go through the right hiring process, stick to a KUSD employee, and think of the athletes first. |
|
 former student and athlete
Mr.Fuall 09/22 at 19:40
 | Why do you people give a crap on whose the coach they still won't go any further just like football doesn't because of the head coach. If your kid doesn't play maybe you should realize that he probably might suck and thats okay that is why he is in school getting educated to do other things. John was a great coach and his record shows that. He gets fired because he told a kid he needs to be STUDENT athlete . We all sign athletic codes of conduct before we play a season and it says you have to remain in class with no truancies and good grades. If Longstreet doesn't wanna get good grades and go to school cause he just wants to play basketball then let him go to YMCA or Lincoln Park and get his ball on. They shouldn't of fired John for telling what is right. The parents wanna file a lawsuit because there okay of the fact that their kid isn't learning and just wants to play ball. I'm guessing they shouldn't of been a parent cause there sounding not ready to parent their child. If this argument is still going on and they still don't decide on a coach or people don't like the coach then the Trojans should take themselves out of the schedule this year. Cause it sounds like your opinions are more important then what high school sports is about and thats for the kids sake. So let the kids play ball and let the parents sit in the crowd like always and point fingers at what they think they know. when they don't got a clue. |
|
 Open Your Eyes
Mr. Facts 10/04 at 07:23
 | Do you really believe Longstreet suddenly stopped attending school, especially the first day the season was over. Most likely, this was a preseason, a seasoned and post-season problem. Tremper failed to handle the situation internally and professionally. |
|

09/16 at 07:07
 | Wow!!! Tremper hires a guy who resume consist of coaching the small fry program and Summer Basketball, Well at least the Team will have clean teeth, This Hire doesn't make sense. |
|

09/16 at 08:46
 | Isn't that a conflict of interest? The same situation happened in football a couple years ago that cost us state! |
|
 Savaglio a good choice
Tom Fulmer 09/16 at 11:54
 | Dr. Al will do a fine job as the interim coach. Al has been extremely involved with the success in Kenosha basketball as well as the recent success at Tremper. Who do you think guided Sam to be as spectaular as he is. You can expect good results from the 2009-2010 Tremper Basketball team. |
|

09/16 at 14:25
 | How has Dr. Al contributed to the recent Tremper success? I believe the success had to do with the coaching staff and hard working players. All Dr. Al has done is sit in the bleachers with Aiello and complain that his kid is not getting the ball enough. Mr. Aiello should be embarrassed. I guess your boys will more PT this year. |
|
 What a Joke....
09/16 at 09:32
 | Nothing personal about the new coach, but a parent with no experience now coaching over a staff whos been in place for over 10yrs?! What a slap in the face for the trojans. This stuff only happens in cartoons! |
|
 A Poor Decision
09/16 at 15:26
 | This is a very poor decision on the part of the Tremper adminstration for a number of reasons, namely the following: 1) He has little to no relevant coaching experience, outside of AAU and Small Fry which are not comparable to the commitment it will take to be the coach at one of the largest high schools in the state; 2) It sends a bad message to the kids in that the hard work and dedication the former assistant coaching staff showed to them was not rewarded in at least one of those assistants getting an opportunity to serve as the 'interim' coach; 3) Will expose the kids to a new philosopy and system which they may not be familiar with which will be particurly challenging in light of losing one of the best players in the state. The 'Interim' coach should have been someone who can bring some level of consistency to the program in light of all the change which is best accomplished by hiring a current assistant. The administration made a very poor judgement on this and now the only people who suffer are the kids. |
|
 wow
outsider looking in 09/16 at 09:38
 | What a joke this guy has not coached a high school game how many game films has he broke down coaching aau?? GOOD LUCK TREMPER I FEEL BAD FOR THE KIDS!!! |
|
 What a joke!
09/16 at 10:14
 | Kind of ironic that Dr. Savaglio coached the Kenosha Spirit wiht Principal Aiello. Granted Savaglio does have some AAU coaching but so does Coach Wilson. Coach Wilson would have the best interest of all the kids on the team. Not like Savaglio wo will only have his son's best interest. Kenosha get ready for the "Sam Savaglio Show." |
|

Yes, but... 09/16 at 20:30
 | Yet another reason Aiello and Al should be ashamed. Sam Savaglio is a GREAT kid, any one of you would be lucky to have a child so polite, gifted, and successful. This poor kid is going to be caught smack dab in the middle of this mess. People, please, target your displeasure and outrage at the correct people and do you best to leave Sam out of the discussion. |
|
 Inappropriate
COSMOS 09/17 at 07:14
 | Great kid. Further Comments about this kid should be left out of this issue. Besides he earned his status as one of the team leaders going into this season |
|

09/17 at 15:38
 | Sam is a great kid and very talented. I was not directing anything toward him but his father. His father will only have his best interest and NOT the team. |

 Hidden Agenda
Truth Seeker 09/16 at 10:54
 | Had to have been someone from the Unified that applied or one of Wilhelmson's former assistants. Hopefully the interim coach is just that,INTERIM, because I just do not see how a person coaching 10-12 year olds is qualified to coach at the high school level. Had to be a hidden Aiello agenda: Get rid of the good coach, who tells it like it is and is a definate winner, and hire a buddy to get my kid more playing time. |
|
 dad, buddy takes over
dc 09/16 at 11:16
 | One of the biggest schools in the state has just hired a dentist to be their interim coach? The principal must have really looked deep into the area to find a good basketball coach. What was wrong with the the existing assistant that I played for??? Everyone liked him and it is customary to have the assistant take over as interim..... unless the principal gives it to one of his buddies......this is a good ol boys classic!! |
|

thor 09/16 at 18:43
 | this is bushleague. there are two competent assistant coaches that could and would do a better job then this interim. it's a shame and there is definitely some bias here on aiello's part. thor for life. |
|
 Bradford sitting Pretty...
09/16 at 12:28
 | Have to give the edge to Bradford now, especially if Longstreet is able to play?! HOW Randy Wilson doesnt get this job is beyond me. Where is Scott Lindgren in this process? Matt Hardy got the boot from bradford because he wasnt a KUSD employee...who files the first grievance in this debacle??? HE GONE!!!! |
|
 Longstreet is a joke
09/16 at 19:18
 | He is one of the main reasons that Wilhelmson is gone. If he is able to play, this year, with over 20 truancies in the past year, then KUSD is a joke. Instead of family threatening lawsuits, maybe their son should go to class. Good luck Tremper! |
|

09/16 at 20:57
 | we all know that KUSD is a joke we been known this and that is the reason y coach wilhelmson left and that kid should go to class but he is still a hell of a basketball player but give coach rideaux the job |
|
 LONGSTREET
THERESA SWISHER 09/21 at 07:40
 | It is funny to me that Longstreet was able to play with all of his truancies at Tremper and prior year at St Joes. The Bradford parents knew of this from staff members at Tremper. We heard that staff members at Tremper would pick him up and physically bring him to school. Funny how parents and staff knew all about this and never said a word, because winning was more important to them. Not his education. Now that his family has moved and he is in the Bradford district, he should be held to the district policy. Funny how these things happen, huh? |
|

09/18 at 19:52
 | As a Bradford graduate I had an opportunity to be assistant wrestling coach at DePere High school. At the end of my first year the head coach approached me and had to terminate my services. I was not a union represented employee of the school district. A teacher with NO back ground in wrestling took my spot. So wheres the Union on this matter? |
|
 What a bunch of BS!
09/16 at 13:24
 | Are you kidding me! This guy is one of the biggest losers in town. He can't even manage his own family or his own business. But who really cares it's all about the buddy system. Aiello & Savaglio are best friends - what a coincidence! It should automatically go to the assistant coach, he's next in line - even if it's just for the interim. What a scam. |
|

09/18 at 10:24
 | this is so uncalled for....shame... |
|
 Father-Son
09/16 at 13:48
 | How many Father-Son duos is Tremper going to have in the past few years. Everyone saw that in football it worked out well for the son, but not the TEAM! This happened in 2007 for Football and will happen this year for basketball! |
|
 Unbelievable
09/18 at 17:54
 | Wasn't 2007 the year Tremper football went undefeated? Didn't the "son" you speak of go on to play college football? How long had his dad been coaching at Tremper before he even played varsity football? Apples and oranges, buddy. Or is that chip on your shoulder that heavy.....? |
|
 Lay off
Tremper fan 09/18 at 18:11
 | Why would you bring Tremper football into this? The father you are referring to began coaching football at Tremper at least 5 years before his son played on the varsity squad. And that kid was a quality football player who went on to play college football. |
|

Why?? 09/16 at 13:54
 | Not a wise decision. Looks like inside family politics played a part here. Dr. Al might be a nice dentist but he lacks morals. Just ask around. Not a good influence on the team. |
|
 Where was the tought process?
09/16 at 15:27
 | By the looks of this whole situation - this was a done deal long before Wilhelmson was ASKED to resign. It's so transparent it's not even funny. Nice resume - is he going to give out little tooth brushes after each game is the teams plays well. |
|
 Dr do little
09/16 at 18:08
 | This is a big ORAL ISSUE what a joke for this school.Do they have a AD AT THIS SCHOOL |
|

09/16 at 19:11
 | Old AD was forced out last year by Aiello. |
|

09/16 at 18:29
 | I find it interesting, as a community, we are so quick to turn our backs and show our disapproval. There was and interview process and out of all applicants, Dr. Savaglio was chosen. What does that tell you? I, for one, have seen Al's coaching style and know his qualifications and cannot wait to see what he can do for Tremper. I think everyone will be surprised to see what he can do for "Team Basketball".......Congratulations and Good Luck Al....... |
|

The facts 09/16 at 19:40
 | That interview process you speak of was a complete joke. You tell me smart guy, what could Al have said in that interview that made him a better candidate than Randy Wilson? Did you know Lou Rideaux wasn't even given the chance to interview? It's obvious from the avalanche of negative comments that people smell a rat. Someone needs to start a petition, get Savaglio out before this debacle gets any worse. |
|
 interview
09/16 at 21:21
 | I was told that there were 2 people in the interview. Dick Aiello and the schools athletic director who is picked by the principle. You think Savaglio had the upper hand in this process???? |
|

09/16 at 21:32
 | This community is taking a stand on doing the right thing. Hard work, experience, and years of service are too be rewarded over quick, who you know politics. No high profile operation runs a business like this..not one with class. An interview process means nothing. Everyone knows that most decisions are made even before interviews. And speaking of qualifications...how does coaching small fry for a few years qualify over assistant head coach for 10yrs??? Whoever wrote this comment must be a relative of Aiello or Dr. Al. They should have considered some of our good middle school coaches over this guy, but theyd have enough common sense to turn down the job out of respect to the program and coach W. Low Down Dirty Shame... |
|
 INTERVIEW????
COSMOS 09/17 at 07:58
 | Interview????Yah right-and I got 1000 acres of prime real estate in Florida that i will let you have at 1 dollar for all 1000 acres. |

09/16 at 18:34
 | What about Lou Ridoux? He has been coaching at Tremper for years and he's a teacher. |
|

09/16 at 20:55
 | thats what im sayin man give coach rideuax the job man all that hard work that man has put into that basketball program and how many times he has been spit in the face... he deserves ur my guy coach rideaux |

 Both Sides
I know the game 09/16 at 21:14
 | B4 John W. there was a coach named Saint. He was let go because of the claim of Racism. This was reason that he was let go. Well the truth is that One parent really started to inforce this claim (Mr. Mayew)and others followed suit. The next person in line was his assistant coach John Wilhelmson who was on Mayew's side to slide in the side door. Not one time did John W. call Jimenez to tell him he is sorry about the situation. Not once. I talked to Jimenez and he confirmed it. Well now that a Parent or Principle has again made claims about this coach, to slide his guy in the side door as well, How does it feel John W? An avereage coach as Jimenez was, Same type of coaches, same type of paths. It was time for a change about 4 years ago, to me it was like a overdue library book finally getting returned. As far as Mr. Savaglio, I hope for the best, but the best is not him. The system is garbage. You have to hire a 3 person panel to do the hire process and the Majority rules on Coaching moves. The only way it should be done. This process was in works from a pinciple who does not qulifiy as a principle. The same way Chester Pulaski was let go. Garbage system. What about getting a coach who played the game at a high level, or a past great Tremper player who knows the game, or a assistant. There is plenty of time to hire a coach for this year. A COACH not a DR. On the back of all the Tremper chairs for the players is sponsered by Savaglio Dental. I guess money and freindship win this battle Mr. Lingren. Maybe its time for you to step down. |
|

09/16 at 19:23
 | why doesn't the real story about why thor resigned actually come out. Why would a coach decide right before the season starts to resign. Also Ridoux should be the new coach based on his resume and how he deals with kids. |
|
 basketball coach
A former bb mom 09/16 at 20:16
 | Sounds like a bunch of bs politics at Tremper that the leaders just let slide thru make a joke of the team by hiring a joke coach,,, is that fair to the boys who have worked their last years to play for a good team! Now they have to listen to a joke coach??? What are you teaching at Tremper??? |
|

09/16 at 20:55
 | FINALLY!!!!!! someone who actually knows the game of basketball....great choice... |
|
 Amen!
Tremper fan 09/18 at 18:17
 | I couldn't agree with you more. Let Al coach a season. If he bombs, the naysayers can be right in their criticism. I think they'll be surprised, though. |

 High School Musical 4
Zac Efron 09/17 at 00:27
 | It was really hard for me to "get my head in the game" when my dad was putting so much pressure on me to be the star. Maybe the Tremper Drama program will get a boost due to all this controversy. What a joke! Wake up Kenosha! This isn't Disney! Let's get serious and get a real coach. |
|
 Wrong about Saint
John Smith 09/17 at 02:49
 | For the person who thinks Saint "J" was forced out you might be right on that note............but I can tell you first hand it had nothing to do with what your talking about..........There was a ton, and I mean a ton of people that wanted him out of that job. The ONLY reason was becasue he was a lousy coach. John W. got the job because he was and still is the best basketball coach in the area. There are a number of excellent coaches in the city. I put the Bradford football coach Jed in that catagory, along with Mark A. track coach at Bradford, Chuck B. cross country coach at Tremper and the soccer coaches both boys and girls at both schools. You have no idea how hard it is to get coaches of that caliber anywhere. John W. should be brought back and this Longstreet kid needs to grow up. |
|

jg 09/17 at 03:00
 | Does it really matter, though? When has Tremper EVER had a decent basketball team? The football team was regularly deep into the state playoffs in the 90s. The basketball team has never done anything. Basketball as a whole just isn't a strong point in Kenosha regardless of how big the schools are. |
|

bs nepatism 09/17 at 17:15
 | the in my 4 years of being on the team we were one game from making it to state 3 time. and before i was there they made it to state. Which is alot better then u are making them sound. and i dont know where u were in 2007 but i believe steve djerickovic was one of the top players in the state. |
|
 Bradford > Tremper
COSMOS 09/17 at 08:20
 | If I were a parent of a student athlete, residing in the Tremper district, I would do everything possible to get my kid enrolled at Bradford. Athletics at Bradford is miles ahead of Tremper. |
|

09/17 at 12:59
 | oh yeah.....brilliant solution!!!!! give me a break!! |
|

Justice? 09/17 at 08:31
 | The only fitting end to this whole joke of a mess is to expose the truth about how Wilhelmson was manipulated by Aiello, forced to resign, and forced to look like a quitter. Get this man his job back and re-establish some sense of order. |
|

09/17 at 09:49
 | Let's get the petition to remove Savaglio started. I will definitely sign that petition. |
|

09/17 at 11:31
 | 2 facts 1. Coach Wilmelmson forced out because of not playing Aiello's kid and the Longstreet comments was Aiello's out. 2. WIAA violations are in order if Dr. Savaglio coached these kids in the off-season and then coaches against them during the season |

B-real 09/17 at 14:54
 | What a debacle the administration has created her and once again the ones hurt the most are kids and players. 9 trips to sectinals and a trip to the state tourney you selfishly force the coach out to get your friend in there. Shameful..you have the opportunity to make it right ask the players who'd they like to step my bet its Coach Whilemson or someone from his staff! |
|

09/17 at 12:36

 interim?
09/17 at 13:35
 | Why is the position an interim one? The season starts when..... is that how you go around union rules? |
|
 No Surprise Here
09/17 at 16:12
 | Aiello was pre-selected to be the principal at ITA long before the interview happened. He screws up that school and they throw him over to Tremper where he is in the process of screwing this school up. No surprise that Dr. Al was "Pre-selected", that is how KUSD works and Aiello is just part of the "Good Old Boy" network. Screw up and move up! Next stop, Stupidintendent! How much more are we expected to take! |
|
 Another petition is in order.
Linda Hartschuh 09/17 at 22:01
 | Enough of this talk of petitioning to remove Dr. Al. How about a petition to refuse Coach W's resignation? |
|
 What a joke!!!
Brian Garoutte 09/17 at 17:32
 | Interim or not, this job should have gone to a current coach in the program. That would be the only way to have some sort of consistency for the kids already in the program. Let's all be honest, there is no way John was ready to step down. This just proves that the principal has his own idea as to how the program should be run. This apparently means more playing time for his own kids. I would love to know just how much they got prior to this season. The entire system is a joke. To have the parent of a current player coach is just asking for trouble. Some advice for the new "coach", this conference is not AAU. Trust me I speak from experience. I feel bad for the kids because their best interest is not even being considered. Sending my kid to St. Joe's looks better and better everyday!! |
|
 Your a terrible coach
09/19 at 13:52
 | Like you have a clue. |
|

09/26 at 12:28
 | You may think what you want, however, at least I am not scared to put my name on something I write. Like most parents who complain to AD's about coaches, you do not have the guts to put your name on it.What's wrong? Did you son not get enough playing time on my team? Did I yell at him too much? By the way, your header for you comment is wrong. Your is your, you're is you are, but what do I know, I have no clue! |
|

Great News 09/17 at 20:13
 | Heard Dr. Al resigned as interim coach. |
|
 Go above KUSD
annmarie 09/17 at 20:39
 | Well, lets take it to the state level! Contact WIAA. After all, Wilhelmson was only following WIAA rules and KUSD Athletic Code of Conduct. The Good Ol' Boys Club wanted a kid to play that wasn't eligible, Wilhelmson wouldn't break the rules so they got rid of him..... Oh and rumor is that kid is using up his ineligibility by being on the Bradford football team roster. Aiello the GM ????
09/17 at 21:42
 | It seems like Mr.Aiello wants to be the GM of the Boys Hoops Team. Head coach-Dr.Al Asst. Coaches- Himself and S.Allemand. You have turned this program into a joke throughout the state of Wisconsin. Just ask the coaching faternity in the state. Will the GM be asked to step down as principal as did the former coach??? Let the fun begin as Dr.Al just stepped down. Will GM Aiello hire himself as coach ?? |
|
 WOW!!!!!
Here we go !!! 09/17 at 21:53
 | Maybe these administrator's need to look at the hiring procedure that was implemented by other administrator's to see if this was handle properly. If the hiring process wasn't handled properly it should be investigated by other administrator's. The guilty parties should be reprimanded and fined. ., |
|

09/17 at 22:09
 | Really everyone! I am not a parent of any high school basketball player, but regardless of what's going on, it's only 5 months and one season, life has never been fair,we all cook our own goose. This is all absolutely ridiculous, over basketball. Get out there and help one another quit being so "self"ish. That's why our world is so crazy. Tremper is all about the politics always has been. It all comes out in the end and that's all that matters. I've been through all this already, my kid, a great athlete took the high road and left Tremper behind years ago. |
|

Reality Check 09/18 at 15:54
 | How can you be so simple minded to think that the abuse of power displayed here is limited to basketball decisions. We are talking about the way this district is run, how people are hired, and how current employees are treated. Those of you who lack the intellectual ability to see the forest for the trees need to do us all a favor and refrain from posting. |
|
 WOW!!!!
Here we go !!!!! 09/17 at 22:18
 | There is a hiring procedure that was implemented by administrator's of K.U.S.D. If the hiring of this coach was done improperly this should be investigated and all guilty parties should be reprimaned and fined. |
|
 This CAN Be FIXED
John Smith 09/18 at 01:19
 | Ok everybody bottom line here is that a lot of stuff is being written...........to the writer who thinks the facts are not correct well I hate to disappoint here but unfortunately the facts are basically all correct. There are a number of people that are being hurt here. One most important are the kids on the basketball team. Two Coach John W. got a real raw deal here. The new coach should do the right thing and just step down BEFORE this gets any more ugly. Plenty of time to put the right person in the job. There are jobs on the line here and this will get to Joe Mangi I am sure if it hasn't already. So Mr. Dentist not only think of the whole team here but your son as well. |
|
 Al is out!
Former trojan 09/18 at 04:48
 | The inside word is Al is out as the coach - he didn't pass the background check! And some of us wonder why he quit his practice over a weekend! Now KUSD, do this right and choose between the KUSD qualified employees or , better still, give it back to Coach W, as he is by far the most qualified man! Tell him not to make negative comments to the media again and move on! The NAACP has no case to sue anybody! |
|
 Coach choice
09/18 at 06:20
 | Savaglio has coached for many years and I feel he is very well skilled in the job. He appears to be a victim of undeserving verbal attacks here and although I understand that people will always do this kind of stuff it is unfair. The hiring "team" made a good choice in their decision and the season ahead will prove this again and again. |
|

Oh yeah? 09/18 at 15:38
 | Then why did Al resign a day after being hired? If he was such a quality individual and coach, could he not stand up to all the criticism? If he is a 'victim' then I'm the fricken Pope. The hiring 'team' you speak of was "team Dick". I wasn't aware that one man constitutes as a team, but maybe your dictionary is better than mine. The good news is that Al will still be sitting in the top corner of the bleachers (if he has the guts to show in public after this) and will not be sitting on the bench. |

 | the hiring team was MrAiello |
|

09/18 at 16:11
 | If you honestly think that he is the best choice, then you have no idea what you are talking about and should not comment about this topic ever again. He put himself in this position by saying yes. Everyone knows this is total BS. If you can't see that then you need to take a better look. I bet you even voted for Obama. The grass isn't always greener!!!!! |

Dr. Al was the right choice
Know a little about the game 09/18 at 18:16
 | First of all like the previous people no matter what you think the Savaglio and Aiello kids need to be left out of all conversations. One of the big problems with the High School sports world in Kenosha is that we are happy when our teams go to sectionals, with the enrollment of Bradford and Tremper and being part of the weakest sectional in the state every year our high schools should be a constant at the state meet. But, like we hear every year from all basketball programs is that they make it to sectionals, big deal. With the talent "Thor" has had he should have been there more than once. Bradford has made the right choice in selecting there new coach, he will have those kids there soon without Longstreet. Give Mr. Aiello a chance to do the right thing, take time to get right person for job. Lou Rideaux great guy excellant assistant coach and Al would do himself right if he hires him as an assistant. And I believe Mr. Aiello knows his kids are not at the level they need to be to get more playing time, but understand this not too many of those kids know the game and has heart like there oldest son. I hope Dr. Al does stay so they possibly experience a chance to go to state. |

 got your wish
09/18 at 19:34
 | Just found out that Dr. Al stepped down. Most people that commented on this story wrote before they thought. Using Mr. Aiello as the bad guy. He did what he thought was best for the program, now you will see what will happen to program it will go south unless somebody like a Brian Chike takes the job. John's coaching staff does not have a guy that can make a difference as a head coach. Remember talent gets you to sectionals, coaching and descipline wins state |
|
 Get real
saint 09/26 at 16:36
 | I think the writer meant the program will go south if somebody like Brian Chike takes the job, remember we want the program to improve not get worse. We don't need someone who has already shown that they can't coach-bring in Rocky Tirabassi now that guy can coach! |
|

09/19 at 08:35
 | I wish the editing would include how many of these comments were made by the same few bozo's who are having a field day venting their frustrations. I don't blame the guy for changing his mind on the job. Especially since he has a son on the team. It's just not worth it. |
|
This is completely out of hand.
09/19 at 11:40
 | You people all disgust me. You are tearing eachother down just because you have different opinions on the situation. You are claiming that the KUSD system is a joke. And yes, that may be true, but then what do you consider this to be? You are making comments on here, but if you are that upset about the situation then you should stop wasting your time on comments and actually do something about it. Please people, learn to be more mature. You are all acting like children. Stop whining because you didn't get what you want. |
|
 Are you people kidding me?
09/19 at 12:15
 | Is this what you people do in your free time? Wasting your time on the computer complaining about Mr. Savaglio? This is ridiculous. And you people have no right bringing Sam into this, he has done nothing to you people and he doesn't deserve this. He is the sweetest kid ever, and what your writing is effecting him to. Sam is an amazing basketball player, and he shouldn't be put down because of it.So why don't you people get a life and grow up. |
|
 Enough Said
09/19 at 12:43
 | Lets start a petition to remove Aiello from the school AND the school district. He already screwed up ITA, and now is on the path to destroying Tremper. This year alone he sets up a malicious traffic plan for the school, forces Wilhelmson to resign, and then hires the biggest airhead in the city as the new basketball coach. I wonder what Aiello will do next to these students. |
|
 GO TROJANS
09/19 at 14:07
 | This is the 98% of people who no nothing about basketball. The 2% will win for this program. |
|
 TROJANS
09/19 at 14:18
 | These negative people don't know anything about basketball. Good Luck Al |
|
 Ridiculous.
Tremper Alumni 09/19 at 19:19
 | All of you are utterly disgusting! Everyone thinks they know all the "insides" of what happened and 99% of you probably don't even have a clue! All the stupid immature gossip that goes around Kenosha makes me sick. Again, majority of you probably don't even have a child that plays basketball at Tremper for that matter, why do you even care then? And who cares about the father-son duos in the sports world of Kenosha anyways? How do you even think Sam got to be as good as he is! All of you should be ashamed that you bash down and think you know a situation. Get over all the things you hear from around town and give people a chance! Who cares if Dr. Aiello and him are friends, EVERYONE in Kenosha has a connection to someone. GET OVER all the stupid negativity and just let the boys be able to play!!! |
|
 Trempr is fine
??? 09/19 at 21:21
 | People are blowing this out of proportion and you ppl need to keep sam out of this! Everyone knows that Mr.Aielo is the biggest snake ever doin all this just so his two kids can play. No offense to those kids their wonderful kids I'm sure. The job should go to Wilson or Riduax and also about the team they will be fine reguradless of whose coaching they have a vetran backcourt in sam and ruben who have been starting and goin to their 3rd year also the only concerns is prolly their centers I've seen their centers both of them an ahh if i was bradford i wouldnt be scared |
|

09/20 at 16:47
 | How would know about Tremper's future centers? Have you watched them play daily or weekly? They did not get much PT last year except for a few minutes. I know for a fact that they are better then last years centers. I think you need to watch these young men before you critize their abilities. |
|
 Wow
09/20 at 10:11
 | I wish people would get as worked up over issues facing our community, nation, and world. Now I see why you can't pass a ref for a new school, but you can quite easily vote in the cash for athletic crap. |
|
 Kenosha backseat drivers
Cathy 09/20 at 10:27
 | There are two kinds of people in Kenosha. One, the person who tries to improve the schools, improve the quality of lives and steps up and spends hour upon hours volunteering. Then you have person number two, who sits back and complains about everyone else. This person never helps, never has any ideas, never has a constructive comment or knowledge of correct facts. From the comments I have read so far, it appears person number two is the vast majority. |
|
 more than basketball
annmarie 09/20 at 12:59
 | To those posters that think the city is upset because of a mere basketball coach- you are missing the bigger picture. This is an issue of honesty and integrity. Character traits that we expect from those in charge of our children. Character traits that have NOT been demonstrated by Mr. Aiello, Scott Lindgren and others in KUSD administration. From asking a coach to disregard the Athletic Code of Conduct, dismissing the coach for not disregarding the rules, to not following the KUSD hiring policy. |
|
 your right more than basketball
09/20 at 19:13
 | Please, Coach has never followed the code of conduct. Him and his assistant abbusing his power as a police officer and putting things under the table, many of times. Could it be Aiello told the coach that this player couldn't play no matter what? Let's hope somebody that knows the game get's hired and not what was on the bench for the past number of years. But, there are omly few that qualify that are teachers. |

 More Meddling Parents Society
Tremper grad 09/22 at 00:03
 | I recall that Savalgio's parents thought he was pretty good in high school (much better than he actually was) and contacted the Kenosha News to write more stories about him so he could get a scholarship to a school like Marquette (like that was the job of a newspaper). MPS has disrupted whatever good things have gone on at Tremper with their ego-centric and divisive behavior. But it's nothing new. MPS, with a long list of names including Gename, Braun, Mayhew, etc., etc., launched witch hunts against every basketball coach who has ever coached there, including one girls coach who was sick. And then after he died, they all had wonderful things to say about him in the paper. There were qualified people who would have been interested in a coaching job at Tremper, but were turned off by the Meddling Parents. KUSD should launch a search for a good coach with proven varsity experience. Tremper is a big enough school (bigger than some colleges) with improved facilities and a demonstrated track record of tournament success in a variety of sports (they could be on par with an Arrowhead, Middleton or Verona if there were some actual teamwork and patience to look for a professional). Those qualities should be able to attract a basketball person and an educator, and not have to settle for a medical person who coaches as a hobby with his kids. I want my medical people to be spending some extra time going to continuing education to take better care of his patients, not going to clinics to learn better coaching techniques. As far as the football situation, the program is better off for the years in which a Tremper grad, the quarterback who led the school to two state championships and went on to play at Northwestern, donated time to coaching as an assistant. While one may question his son's talent, he did play for a Division I-AA school (shoulder surgery is keeping him out this season), better than the Division III schools at which most Kenosha graduates play. |
|
 FYI
insider 09/22 at 07:25
 | An email went out to all KUSD staff yesterday saying there was a "mistake" in the hiring process and that the position was open and unfilled at this time. |
|
 Meddling Parents Society
Tremper grad 09/21 at 23:39
 | As a graduate of Tremper, it sickens me to see people who have worked hard to get the education and experience to be good coaches, but later ousted by the Meddling Parents Society (MPS), whose battle cry is: "The fruit of my loins can do no wrong!!!" Not every kid is as good as his parents think he is. |

 Coach W Comments
Dan W 09/22 at 01:14
 | I have no children in KUSD. Long before he stepped down, I thought Coach W's comments regarding Longstreet were inappropriate and unprofessional. Coach W should be held accountable. |
|
 Aiello at it again!
timnandysmom 09/22 at 06:24
 | Dick Aiello is at it again! This man screwed up ITA and forced good teachers out there too. I was appalled when Unified gave him Tremper to screw up...and he is. That job should have gone to Mr. Dopke. This is so typical of Aiello's tactics....glad my kids are out of KUSD!!!! |

 Today A Disturbing Truth
Is Confirmed 09/24 at 09:48
 | People, this article has over one hundred reader comments. This is unprecedented with the exception of articles concerning big crimes. Why do you all care more about sports than academics? Why is it ok to teach the kids politics on the field instead of in the classroom? |
|
 Corruption as Usual
09/24 at 20:22
 | Just wondering if the selection will be the standard KUSD interview? Go through the motion of an interview, but already have the candidate pre-selected! |
|
 Are you kidding me
09/25 at 15:16
 | I think we need to stop commenting on this issue. If you feel this strongly on this issue you need to either email or call the ESC, oh but wait that means you have to put your name down. |
|
 shame
deedee 09/27 at 06:59
 | Lou rideoux should be the coach rite now. period. hes a teacher and he was already a coach and he wants the job. only problem he isnt white, kusd is a shame |

 KUSD IS TOOTHLESS!!!
A PATIENT 09/28 at 19:27
 | WITH TWO MAJOR HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE CITY AREA, IT IS UNBELIEVABLE THAT A DENTIST BE HIRED TO COACH ONE OF THESE TEAMS. PLEASE!! WHAT IS REALLY GOING IN THESE HALLS OF LEARNING??? wHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON? |
|

09/30 at 12:14
 | What is happening is that a crooked principal is running Tremper...but the old boy network will cover for him and nothing will happen to him for sure. |
|
 Coach should be qualified
Parent in the area 09/28 at 20:00
 | It should not matter if the coach is not white, if he is qualified, a KUSD employee, wants the job and has experience, then give him a shot. I think Coach W was good and it is sad to see how he felt but if he knew Longstreet wasn't going to school then he was doing something wrong too. |
|
 Scott Lindgren
Joe Public 09/29 at 17:20
 | Scott Lindgren How much did you get paid for this shenanigan at least the team will be cavity free |
|
 Follow up
09/30 at 10:11
 | Ummmmm........ Kenosha News..... Why is there no follow up to this story? Word is that Lou Rideoux was hired as Head Coach. BUT before that, all but one of the assistants quit so now Aiello and Lindgren have to figure out how to fill those positions too. |
