UWP keeps on rolling
The UW-Parkside women’s basketball team ran its winning streak to seven games with a 93-68 non-conference victory over Olivet Nazarene on Tuesday night in Bourbonnais, Ill.
Brittany Beyer led the Rangers (9-1) with 30 points and 13 rebounds.
“A lot of that is a credit to our point guards Amanda Gibson (10 points, eight rebounds, seven assists) and Kaitlyn Bettiga (four points, five assists),” UW-Parkside coach Jenny Kenesie said.

“They made the extra pass and Brittany was running the floor well and shooting layups.”
Amy Selk (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Jadee Rooney (11 points) joined Beyer and Gibson as double-digit scorers for Parkside, which hasn’t lost since Nov. 21 against Concordia-St. Paul.
Olivet Nazarene (5-7) plays an unusual style in which it full-court presses, shoots many 3-pointers and substitutes freely throughout the game.
The Tigers attempted a whopping 51 3-pointers but made only nine (17.6 percent).
“Once we settled down we did a great job in the second half breaking the press and had a lot of 3-on-1 layups,” Kenesie said.
“It was really a good team effort. It’s literally like a track meet (playing against Olivet Nazarene). Everybody played with a lot of poise and played well and (unselfishly).”
Leading 40-39 at halftime, Parkside outscored Olivet Nazarene 53-29 in the second half and possessed an overall 67-45 rebounding advantage.
The Rangers won’t play again until hosting Indiana University Northwest 5 p.m. Dec. 29.
“Our goal was to go into Christmas with a victory,” Kenesie said. “The kids are playing hard and playing together. We’ve got good chemistry and it shows on the floor.”
