Wilmot, Central play to tie

Central and Wilmot played to a 0-0 tie in a Southern Lakes Conference match Tuesday at Frank Bucci Field.

The Falcons outshot the Panthers, 20-16.

“We seemed to have more of our opportunities in regulation,” said Central coach Jeremy Williams, whose team is 0-4-2 in the SLC. “They had two chances from point-blank range in overtime, but our keeper (Matt LaMeer) turned them away.”

Wilmot coach Danny Djordjevic added: “My team played hard tonight. I was proud of the play from my seniors this evening. This was a game for fans, parents and players to remember for some time. This was how a rival game should be played.”

Along with LaMeer, Williams commended the defensive play of Ryan Brick, Kurt Swanson, Peter Ludwig and Tyson Marinis.

“(Marinis) stepped up,” Williams said. “He moved back from a forward role and did really well.”

Wilmot is 0-6-1 in the SLC.

Yeah,a game to remember-one for the ages-a game you can tell your grandchildren about. Come off it coach-although I agree that the kids played better then any other game this season. But considering your record, being satisfied with a tie is like the bears or packers being satisfied tying the other and going winless for the rest of the games. With a losing record you should have went for the win against a team that is your equal but playing on your turf. You had the advantage and didn't take advantage of it. The message you convied to your team is to be satisfied with not winning even when the advantage is yours. You could have pushed other players(fresher players)up on offense in the second overtime-a combination of Ahler,Jones,and Killcoyne(all defenders with speed)to put presure on a tired Westosha defense would have probably won you the game but I guess thats where you think Wilmots soccer program should be judging by the programs record since you took over. These same teams face each other in the off season in winter leagues at Westosha and Wilmot won all but one of the match-ups handedly with the main nucleus of players from each team. There is only one thing different in that equation and that is the coach. In the past two years the main body of players from this team has won more games in the offseason span then the school team has won in double that time including beating teams from the Milwaukee area when they travled to Brookfield to play. Harder teams and they still won up there. To be satisfied with a tie at this point of the season(no wins)shows your desperation to convince everyone involved in Wilmot soccer that you belong at the helm-showing your excitement and enthusiaum for the team. Well the team doesn't need a cheerleader or another supportive adult,it needs a coach,one that has more knowledge on the game than the players he is trying to lead. You've had enough time to show your incompetence as a varsity soccer coach let alone a lower level coach(u-8)maybe? Your Defense throws a shut out and you don't have the clarity to even understand who to credit(as the Westosha coach did for his players)for keeping that ball away from the net for not even one quality shot the whole game! Jones,Ahler,Reichwien,Killcoyne all had a stand out game-and in a game where there was no goal from your offense I would think it even more detrimental to make mention of their efforts. You may have all the other parents,faculty,administration,and press fooled. But you don't have me or the large majority of the players fooled. You need to get to steppin!! Leave the team in capable hands before you destroy the dreams of more kids. Even the twins as good as they where didn't get a good offer because of your lack of ability compared to other highschool coachs in the area,no major college even gave them a goog look because of the way the team is run,and they should have. Get out on your own terms-now-before the people who let you keep this team from winning figure it out themselves and give you your walking papers-that would be more embarr ass ing for you,wouldn't it? I can't belive that at this point I have reduced myself to routing against my sons team hoping they don't win a game all season so that maybe the administration will take enough notice to bounce this guy from his position and maybe find a real soccer coach to guide the program for us next year and there on. Someone proven-not just some faculty member that is in proximity to the school during the day so the A.D. can find them faster or just needs a little extra cash. Someone that has the time during the season and doesn't skip out on practices. A coach that will do other things in the off season to better the program. Pack your bags COACH!!
