Wilmot’s Herman to play at E. Illinois
It became official Wednesday: Wilmot’s Jackie Herman is a member of the Eastern Illinois University basketball program.
The senior had verbally committed to Division I EIU last season. With her National Letter of Intent now signed, Eastern Illinois unveiled the four-time letterwinner as a member of its five-player recruiting class for 2010-2011.
“We are really excited to add a guard to our program as skilled as Jackie,” Eastern Illinois coach Brady Sallee said in a release. “Her ability to score and her strength really separated her from a lot of other guards we pursued in this class. She was made for our system and I think Jackie will excel in our motion offense.
“She is tough and has a mean streak that I think our fans will love. Her work ethic will definitely enable her to be a special player at EIU.”
The 5-foot-10 guard from Twin Lakes also plays for the Wisconsin Fastbreak AAU team.
She is a two-time All-Southern Lakes Conference honoree and was listed among the top 50 prospects in Wisconsin.
Carrying a 3.689 grade-point average, Herman ranks 31st in her class of 290 at Wilmot.
Herman and her teammates began practicing on Wednesday, the first official day of practice. Wilmot opens it season on Dec. 1 at Tremper.

Herman joins Bradford senior Katie Young, who signed with Marquette, as County players heading for Division I schools. The duo join Bradford’s Jamie Gray (Evansville), Tremper’s Lindsey Sebetic (Loyola-Chicago) and Nichole Drummond (UW-Milwaukee), and St. Joseph’s Erin Higgins (Illinois-Chicago), Jenny Knight (Louisville) and Anna Knight (Wyoming) as Kenosha County’s recent women’s Division I basketball scholarship recipients.
