Names: Joy and Sydney Uttech Gender: Females City of residence: Kenosha Hometown: Kenosha Age: 40 and 6 Occupation: Joy is an associate director at Trustmark, Sydney is a first grader at Pleasant Prairie Elementary. Ideal job: Joy would have liked to teach art. Sydney would like to be a princess. What is the coolest thing about your family? It always seems like when things seem bad, something good ends up coming from it. As an example, when 9/11 happened, we just learned that we were pregnant with Sydney. And recently, with the other craziness, Joy’s sister (Sydney’s aunt) learned that she is pregnant. Any pets? We have a fish that Sydney named “Girl.” Do you sing in the shower? Sydney sings in the bathtub, and she likes to sing “All day all night, Angels watching over me my lord...” Favorite songs: Joy loves anything by the Killers and Blue October. Sydney’s favorite song is “I have a loose tooth and wiggly giggly loose tooth.” Favorite reads: Joy likes anything by Shel Silverstein, especially the “Giving Tree.” Sydney likes “Snow White.” How often do you read the newspaper? Joy reads it every day. And Sydney likes to take the ads and circle everything she wants and also likes to cut out the pictures. Favorite TV shows: Joy likes “House” and Sydney likes “Sponge Bob Square Pants.” Favorite movies: Joy loves “Phantom of the Opera,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” and all of the Harry Potter movies. Sydney loves Barbie’s “The Nut Cracker” and the Bratz “Fashion Pixiez.” What are you most likely to be searching for when you raid the fridge after midnight? Joy would dig out the vanilla yogurt and dump Kashi granola into it. Sydney would look for donuts. If you were sent to the moon with nothing but a book and a book light, what book would you choose? Joy would pick the fifth Harry Potter book. I still need to read it. Sydney would pick “Cinderella.” If you were on a reality television show, which would you want it to be and why? If Joy didn’t have to eat bugs, she would try the “Fear Factor.” Sydney said she doesn’t know what “reality TV” is but if she could be on tv she wants to be on Sponge Bob. Favorite sports: Joy loves riding her bike, walking and is trying to figure out racquetball now. Sydney loves to play soccer and baseball. Any hobbies: We both like to scrapbook. Joy likes to add pages to her albums and Sydney likes to make cards for her friends and family. If you could be any superhero, what powers would you have? Joy would like to have mind control, like to make people do things (e.g. clean their rooms, pick up after themselves). Sydney would like to be invisible and be able to make fire. Do you consider yourself religious? We are Christians, and attend St. Mary’s Lutheran Church. Sydney likes Sunday School and the little donuts served before church. What’s your favorite ethnic food? Joy loves Chinese. Sydney wants to know if chocolate can be considered an ethnic. What are some things we don’t know about you? Joy hates and despises public speaking. Sydney said that she is really afraid of clowns. What is the best advice you have ever received? For Sydney, the best piece of advice is to try and keep your hands to yourself. Which summer festival was your favorite? Why? Joy likes to check out the bands at Summerfest, and Sydney LOVES Burlington’s Chocolate Festival. What was your favorite grade in school and why? Joy loved her senior year at Tremper. Spent most of it in Mr. Oberton’s art classes. (Earned all my core credits early) Sydney loved Mrs. Sherrick’s kindergarten class. What is your worst habit? Sydney doesn’t always throw her garbage away. Sometimes she hides candy wrappers behind the sofa or under a chair. Joy is working on being more patient and learning to cut back on things and not taking on so much.
