Ross and Vera Boone of Twin Lakes plan to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with family and commemorate the milestone by having a family portrait taken.
Ross and the former Vera Harshman were united in marriage at the M.K. Boone home in Elgin, Ill., on July 25, 1958.
Ross served as a military personnel accountant, stationed in Germany, during the Korean War. His career as a psychiatric social worker took him to the Tinley Park Mental Health Center, STEP Inc., a school for autistic children, and the Lake County Health Department. He is involved in the Adult Lifelong Learning program at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Vera worked as a registered nurse for several years before earning a bachelor’s degree and teaching in the Chicago Public School system. Ross and Vera, who moved to Twin Lakes in 1990, have enjoyed traveling to various national parks and are members of the Holy Communion Episcopal Church in Lake Geneva.
The Boones have two sons: Merrill lives in Arlington, Va., with his wife and four children, and Berthold lives in Chicago with his wife and two children.
