Charles and Arlene Lombardi of Kenosha celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this month with a couple of meals with family and friends at Tuscany Restaurant and the Italian American Club.
Charles and the former Arlene Meissner met at the Italian American Club and were married at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Racine on Oct. 11, 1958.
Charles, who served in the U.S. Navy, was self-employed and retired in 2007. He is a member of the Italian American Club and the Roma Lodge. Arlene was a homemaker. They have been residents of Kenosha for the duration of their marriage and active members of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church for many years.
The Lombardis have five children: Lorna (Kevin, deceased) Eldred, Richmond, Va.; Deanna (Rod) Pappas, Tempe, Ariz.; Gina Lombardi, Phoenix; Charles Lombardi, San Ramon, Calif.; and the late Richard Lombardi; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
To maintain a strong union, Charles and Arlene would advise couples to always strive to be there for each other and to treat others with respect and love. They say the love of family is also an important component.
