Rod and Faith Pfeiffer will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with a family vacation in Door County and an extended family reunion later this month.

Rod and the former Faith Overdier met as attendants in a mutual friend’s wedding. They were married by the Rev. George Overdier, Faith’s father, at First Lutheran Church, West Allis, on Oct. 12, 1968.

Rod, a lifelong Kenoshan, was the owner of Pfeiffer Pump Service and also worked at Steinhafels, Wisconsin Water Well Association, Maas & Sons Well Business and Carpets Plus Outlet, where he continues to work part time. Faith, a resident of Kenosha since 1964, retired in 2006 from the fields of elementary and special education after working 28 years in Rhode Island and for the Kenosha Unified School District. She is active in Alpha Delta Kappa and the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Both are active members of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, where Rod sings in the choir, and St. Mary’s Friendly Center. They are former Lions and Lioness Club members.

The Pfeiffers, who still live in the home Rod built while they were engaged, have two sons, Scott (Sue) Pfeiffer of Lindenhurst, Ill.; and Steve (Angela) Pfeiffer of Pleasant Prairie. They also have five grandchildren.

Rod and Faith attribute the success of their lasting relationship to “patience, understanding, faith in God and being surrounded by a supportive, loving and caring family.”
