Domingo Sr. and Paula Uribe, longtime residents of Kenosha, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Saturday with a family gathering at The Double Deuce bar.
Domingo and the former Paula Villalobos met in 1956 at a movie theater in San Antonio and were married at the Kenosha County Courthouse on Nov. 1, 1958.
Domingo was employed at Kenosha Beef International Ltd. from 1958-1992. He left the company after serving as a supervisor for 16 years. He then worked for Patrick Cudahy, Cudahy, Wis., until his retirement in 2002. He enjoys fishing and is a Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan. Paula worked at Regal China Co., Antioch, Ill., for 20 years; for American Air Filter, Zion, Ill., for three years, and for a Racine dry cleaning business for 11 years. Her interests include crocheting and knitting. Together, Domingo and Paula enjoy gardening.
The Uribes have five children: Esther Salinas, Kenosha; Lupe Ihm, Lancaster, Wis.; Helen Gonzales, Kenosha; Domingo Uribe Jr., Kenosha; Daniel Uribe, Westford, Mass. They also have eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
They say that the key to a successful and lasting relationship is “trust, commitment, communication and believing in God in body, mind and soul.”
