Thomas and Nancy Wood of Pleasant Prairie recently celebrated their golden anniversary with a family dinner.

The couple met while teaching summer school in Racine. They were married on Feb. 1, 1969, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Racine and have local residents for 49 years.

Both taught in the Kenosha Unified School District. Thomas was a teacher at Roosevelt and Jane Vernon schools, and Nancy taught at Bose.

They have two children: Sally (Jeff) Thompson of Hot Springs, Ark., and Tim Wood of Kenosha. They also have five grandchildren.

They have been members of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church for 49 years.
