Abigail Krause SHORELAND — TODAY’S TEEN

Shoreland Lutheran High School

Nickname: Abby

Parents: David and Elizabeth Krause

Most memorable high school moment: It’s really difficult to pick one most memorable high school moment. All of my favorite moments came from playing soccer. Being able to play my favorite sport ever with my classmates and best friends has helped shape me into the person I am today. If I had to choose one moment it would be scoring a goal and beating St. Joe’s in the Regional Championship my sophomore year.

Most influential teacher: Timothy Mielke

Class taught: Physics and Principles of Engineering

Please explain why: I took Physics and Principles of Engineering (POE) my Junior year of high school. Mr. Mielke is a super fun teacher and taking POE with him largely influenced my decision to continue studying Engineering in college. Despite struggling through tough projects and difficult engineering concepts, Mr. Mielke did whatever he could to make sure I would be able to succeed. He answered countless emails about homework, spent time with me outside of class to help me understand certain ideas, and always believed that I would succeed. I feel comfortable talking to Mr. Mielke about almost anything and you can tell how much he loves and cares for every one of his students. He has been there to help me in and out of the classroom.

What I hope to accomplish in my lifetime: My main goal is really just to make the world a better place in whatever I do. And that doesn’t mean I have to change the world. By being positive and working hard in whatever I do I have the ability to make the world a happier and more enjoyable place, and there is an endless number of ways for me to do that.
