pancakes

Mother's Day brunch is a favorite activity, and where there's brunch, there's pancakes, right?

First off, call your mother! It’s Mother’s Day, and you’ll be in big trouble if she doesn’t see you today or at least hear your voice.

Here are some ideas for taking Mom out today:

Virtually every restaurant in Kenosha County will offer brunch, lunch or dinner on Mother’s Day. Is Mom a music fan? She might enjoy the annual Mother’s Day Brunch featuring Tremper High School’s Golden Strings. There are two seatings, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., at Tremper High School. Tickets at the door are $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 4-10 and free for children age 3 and younger. www.thegoldenstrings.com.

Head to the Southwest Library with mom for a Sunday Crafternoon. This group welcomes people who knit, bead, make rugs, quilt, paper craft, stitch or do any kind of handcrafts. Tweens and adults are welcome at all levels of experience. The room will have tables, electric outlets and Wi-Fi. 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the library, 7979 38th Ave. Admission is free.

Today is the final performance of Shakespeare’s comedy/drama “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” at 2 p.m. in the UW-Parkside Black Box Theatre. Tickets are $10-$18. 262-595-2564.

Today is also your final chance to see the children’s show “Captain Louie Jr.,” with performances at 2 and 6 p.m. at the Children’s Theatre Academy, 6032 Eighth Ave. Tickets are $7-$10 and are available at the door.

The Milwaukee County Zoo is offering free admission for all moms. (But that hefty $12 parking fee is still in effect.) www.milwaukeezoo.org.
