The Leprechaun & Lederhosen 0.1K Beer Run last month at the Biergarten in Petrifying Springs Park raised more than $12,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha.

About 430 people participated in the “grueling” 100-meter course, which featured Irish decorations, a hydration station — where participants hydrated with Miller Lite — and first- and last-place awards at the end of the race.

“The turnout and the atmosphere at the Biergarten was great all weekend long,” said Biergarten owner Mike Grab.

“We’re so happy with the event and are already brainstorming some new ideas and improvements for next year’s 0.1K.”

Funds from this event will support the growing after-school program at the club for youth and teens. Programming includes homework help, art, gym time, games and more.

Kenosha County Parks, Petrifying Springs Biergarten and Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha will team up again on Sept. 14 to put on the second Glow in the Garten 3K Fun Run/Walk, a family friendly, glow-in-the-dark themed race.
