Dear Ask a Cop,
Q: I'm a teenager and was wondering what would happen to me if I was out late with my friends and got stopped by a police officer.
A: There are restrictions on when juveniles can be out at night. For example, in Pleasant Prairie curfew hours are from midnight to 8 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and after 10:30 p.m. on week nights. A police officer has the right to detain you if you are in violation of curfew and could issue you and possibly your parent a citation. It all depends what you are doing. If you are on your way to or from a school or church function, you will be OK. If not, your parents will be contacted and told to come pick you up.
In Silver Lake, Twin Lakes, the city of Kenosha and in Kenosha County the curfew hours are from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday; midnight to 6 a.m. Friday and Saturday
For the University of Wisconsin-Parkside the curfew hours for minors are from 11 p.m. through 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from the hours of midnight through 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
