Downtown Kenosha Inc. is seek applicants for its Façade Improvement Grant Program.
The program was established to assist property owners and commercial tenants in the downtown Kenosha business improvement district with the restoration, renovation, redevelopment and repair of commercial businesses in its downtown district.
The grant program aims to encourage new and existing business and property owners to invest in their storefronts, awnings and signs, while restoring the original character of historic buildings and providing a catalyst for redevelopment of the area.
The program offers up to $10,000 in matching funds through a reimbursable grant meant to stimulate private investment.
To date, the program has awarded 18 projects, granted nearly $55,000 in funds, and helped leverage over $3 million in private investment.
In the program’s fourth year, DKI said it has continued to see substantial program growth and interest throughout the community.
“We are excited to offer this program that invests directly in businesses and properties in downtown Kenosha,” said Alexandria Binanti Robinson, DKI Executive Director. “We are looking forward to another successful year of projects that are transforming our community.”
The application can be filled out and submitted at https://www.downtownkenosha.org/doing-business/toolbox/facade-program/. The deadline is Feb. 15.

The program is made possible by community supporters and funders, including Educators Credit Union, First American Bank, Heartland Bank and Trust Co., Johnson Financial Group, Kenosha Area Business Alliance, State Bank of the Lakes and Tri City National Bank.
In addition, DKI lauded Partners in Design, Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. University of Wisconsin-Extension and the Façade Grant Committee for helping to shape the program’s success.
