PLEASANT PRAIRIE — A storage business plans to build a facility near Highway H and Highway C.
The Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission approved site and operational plans for construction of a 127,156-square-foot Extra Space Storage facility on property located east of 9201 Wilmot Road.
Within the building will be a 1,000-square-foot office area and climate-controlled storage units ranging in size from 5 feet by 5 feet to 30 feet by 10 feet.
All storage units will be located inside the building; there will be no access to the storage units from outside of the building.
Users of the storage units would access the building by driving through an overhead door entrance on the north side of the building.
The inside of the facility will be monitored with camera systems, and the exterior of the site will be monitored with a digital security imaging system.
The property will not have direct driveway access to Highway C, but will have a private driveway that connects to a private roadway south of the property that connects to Highway H and Highway C.
Extra Space Storage office hours will be 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekdays. Self-service storage access hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The facility will employ two full-time workers.
Approximately six trips daily are expected from their customers. The facility is anticipated to be under construction this summer and is scheduled to open for business in December.
