A reckless driving complaint resulted in a 27-year-old Kenosha man behind bars early Friday morning.

A witness notified authorities when a Jeep swerved and nearly hit a vehicle near the 900 block of 63rd Street.

Kenosha Police said officers spotted a Jeep speeding around 2:30 a.m. in the 6100 block of 75th Street. The vehicle swerved, lost control, drove onto a grass median and hit a street sign.

The Jeep continued south on 64th Avenue and pulled into a business parking lot.

The man told officers he was drinking earlier in the night and was on his way to a restaurant. He said he was texting a woman and wasn’t paying attention when his vehicle went off the road, according to the police report.

The man was arrested and taken to Kenosha County Jail for drunken driving, operating with a suspended license and without insurance, speeding and texting while driving.

Vehicle strikes light pole; driver arrested

A 24-year-old Kenosha man was arrested for drunken driving after the car he was driving struck a light pole around 1 p.m. Saturday in the 4700 block of 52nd Street.

A witness said the man was nodding off in his vehicle near Pershing Boulevard and 52nd Street.

Kenosha Police said officers found the man standing outside of his vehicle near the accident scene. The man told police he wasn’t drinking and that he was just fired from his job and hadn’t slept in four days.

Officers arrested the man on suspicion of drunken driving and cited him for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

Break-in leads to arrests

Kenosha Police said a 16-year-old Kenosha girl attacked an officer while the officer attempted to arrest her 20-year-old ex-boyfriend.

Officers were called to a residence in the 6100 block of Fifth Avenue around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

A witness said a man forced his way into the girl’s residence.

When police arrived, the man was climbing into a vehicle when an officer intervened. The girl was pepper sprayed when she rushed the officer, according to the police report.

The man was arrested for criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and bail jumping. The girl was arrested for obstruction.
