A Kenosha man is being held in the Racine County Jail following a fatal hit-and-run crash Monday night.
Johnny Taylor, 71, was identified by investigators Tuesday evening as the operator of a vehicle involved in a collision which killed an 18-year-old Racine teen.
The victim has been identified by police as Teren Cagle, who was struck while riding a bicycle on Sheridan Road in Mount Pleasant. He was initially transported to the Froedtert Trauma Center in Wauwatosa, where he died from injuries he sustained as a result of the accident, authorities stated.
Mount Pleasant Police were called to the area of Sheridan Road and Hansche Road at 10:46 p.m. for a report of an unconscious person. They found Cagle had been riding a bike southbound on Sheridan Road when he was struck by a vehicle, which then left the scene.
From evidence at the scene, police had identified the vehicle that hit the teen as a white 1998-2003 Dodge Ram van. The vehicle was located Tuesday and recovered by Mount Pleasant Police. Taylor is the registered owner of the vehicle.
Taylor was transported to the jail pending a felony charge of hit-and-run causing death, and is being held in lieu of cash bond.
The incident remains under investigation.
