A Racine man has been charged with causing more than $3,800 in damage to a woman’s furniture while drunk in her residence.

Michael S. Gibson, 40, charged with felony criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct-use of dangerous weapon, is accused of using a knife to destroy a woman’s furniture after an argument.

According to the criminal complaint filed Monday, Kenosha Police were called to the 7000 block of 16th Avenue around 2:09 a.m. Monday morning, where the woman at the residence stated that she had been hanging out with Gibson, who “drank a lot of Grey Goose vodka” throughout the night.

After Gibson became drunk and argued with the woman, she went upstairs in the residence to go to sleep, at which time Gibson is alleged to have started calling her names and told her he was “going to ‘tear up’ her things,” according to the complaint.

Gibson is then alleged to have stabbed furniture in the woman’s house — using a large knife to cut holes in the woman’s leather sofa, cut the back of one of her dining room chairs and cutting the electric cord to the woman’s treadmill.

The estimated overall damage to the woman’s furniture was $3,840.

Gibson had his initial hearing on the charges Monday, at which time he was issued a $10,000 signature bond.

He will next appear in court for a preliminary hearing on March 28.
