A suspected drunken driver drove the wrong way on Highway 50 Sunday morning, causing a rollover crash just east of Highway 45
According to Sgt. Chris Hannah Kenosha Sheriff’s Department, the 25-year-old Island Lake, Ill., man had been driving a Chevrolet Cruze eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 50 when he struck a 2017 Ford pickup in the 20000 block of Highway 50. The two occupants of the truck were not injured.
The driver of the Chevrolet did not stop, continuing to drive the wrong way in the westbound lanes of the highway.
In the 20000 block of Highway 50, the Chevrolet struck a 2008 Chevrolet Traverse that had just turned left from the median to head west on Highway 50. The vehicle that was struck lost control and rolled. The two adults and two children in the Traverse were not injured.
The 25-year-old Island Lake man, identified by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department as Charles D. Brewer, is expected to be charged with operating while intoxicated-second offense, hit and run, and reckless driving, along with other charges. He suffered minor injuries in the crash.
