Four people were arrested Sunday after causing a crash on Washington Road while fleeing police in a stolen vehicle.

Kenosha Police attempted to stop a Chevrolet Tahoe that had been in the parking lot of the CVS pharmacy at Washington Road and 22nd Avenue at about 11 p.m. Officers tried to stop the vehicle because the plates matched those of a vehicle reported stolen in Zion, Ill.

The driver of the vehicle initially pulled over. But as officers walked toward the vehicle, it sped off west. At 30th Avenue the vehicle went through the traffic light and began heading west in the eastbound lanes of Washington. The driver lost control, went over the median and into the westbound lanes, crashing into another vehicle.

The driver and three passengers in the Tahoe got out of the vehicle and fled on foot, but were captured and taken into custody by police.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck, a 52-year-old woman, had minor injuries and was taken to Aurora Medical Center.

Two of the people who fled the vehicle also had minor injuries and were taken to Aurora.

Washington Road was blocked for about 45 minutes as police investigated the crash.

The driver, a 19-year-old man, is expected to be charged with fleeing, hit-and-run causing injury, drunk driving causing injury and operating a motor vehicle without consent. A 24-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman in the vehicle are expected to be charged with obstructing police and additional charges. A 15-year-old girl in the vehicle was released to a parent.
