Ivy Ford held a release party for her newest offering “Harvesting My Roots” with the Ivy Ford Band at Kenosha Creative Space, 624 57th St., Friday.

Community members packed the room as Ford, known as the “Chicago Blues Kitten,” cranked out riffs on her guitar and later jumped on the Creative Space’s grand piano to play more original songs, with a cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” mixed in.

Ford not only entertained the crowd with her skill in her quick licks on her guitar, but also by leaving the stage to walk among the crowd, and even outside of Kenosha Creative Space, while still playing along with drummer Dave Axen and bass player Willie Rauch.
