Holiday to delay trash collection

There will be no curbside garbage, recycling, brush, tire, yard waste or bulk collection on Monday in recognition of the Memorial Day holiday.

Collection will be delayed one day for the week of May 27. For example, Monday’s route will be collected on Tuesday, and Friday’s route will be collected on Saturday.

Regular collection schedules will resume the week of June 3.

Those with brush, tires or bulk garbage that need to be collected should call the Public Works Department at 653-4050 a minimum of one working day before the regular collection day.

City Hall is closed on Monday.

The Concrete and Brick/Block Drop-Off Site, 6415 35th Ave., and the Yard Waste Drop-Off site, 4017 88th Ave., will be closed Monday.

The Bulk Drop-Off Site, 1001 50th St., is normally closed on Mondays, so its schedule is not affected by the holiday.

Bullen Middle School to mark anniversary

Bullen Middle School is having a 50th anniversary celebration on Oct. 12.

There will be an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a catered dinner by DeRango’s at 5:30 p.m.

Organizers are in search of some memorabilia for the event, including old Bullen T-shirts that can be used to make a quilt that will be auctioned off at the event.

Also being sought are yearbooks, old gym clothes, pictures, any past articles, trophies or anything else.

Also being sought are any ancestors of John Bullen.
