A 31-year-old Salem Lakes man is in Kenosha County Jail awaiting charges after a chase involved law enforcement from four agencies Wednesday.

Racine Police took the man into custody on Sheridan Road north of Highway KR after knocking his car into a ditch by blocking it with a squad car. He is being held in Kenosha County Jail pending felony fleeing charges and on a probation hold. He is on probation for attempted armed robbery.

Kenosha Police Lt. James Beller said an officer had stopped a vehicle the man was driving at 9:17 p.m. Wednesday at 56th Street and 22nd Avenue for a traffic violation. That officer called for a police dog to come check the vehicle for possible narcotics. Then the driver took off, with Kenosha Police following. Kenosha Police terminated the pursuit for public safety.

Sgt. Christopher Hannah of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department said a deputy spotted the vehicle on the 3900 block of 18th Street at about 9:25 p.m. and began a pursuit north on Sheridan Road. The vehicle hit spike strips, puncturing tires, but continued to flee at low speeds.

When it crossed over into Racine County, Racine County Sheriff’s deputies forced the vehicle into a ditch and took the man into custody.
