Tickets are now available for the “Tall Ships Challenge,” Aug. 2-4 in the Kenosha Harbor.

The event will feature seven tall ships moored in the harbor, with some offering sailing excursions.

A parade of ships, led by Kenosha’s own Red Witch, will take place Aug. 1.

Festival admission tickets and sail-away tickets are now on sale on by searching “Kenosha Tall Ships.”

The ships:

U.S. Brig Niagara of Erie, Pa.

Barque Picton Castle of the Cook Islands

Bluenose II of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

S/V Denis Sullivan of Milwaukee

Pride of Baltimore II of Baltimore

Appledore IV of Bay City, Mich.

Red Witch of Kenosha.

Red Witch and Appledore IV will offer sail-away tours on Lake Michigan.

Live entertainment, food and beverage vendors, and children’s activities will add to the festivities.

Kenosha is one of 11 host ports on the Great Lakes in 2019 for the “Tall Ships Challenge,” which travels through Great Lakes every three years.

The “Tall Ships Challenge” begins June 28 in Lake Ontario, with the first port stop in Toronto.

Over the course of 10 weeks, a core fleet of ships will make its way through Lake Erie and Lake Huron before traveling to Lake Michigan, with port stops in Green Bay and Kenosha.

Between ports, Tall Ships America organizes races among the tall ships.

The festivals in host ports offer an opportunity for visitors to explore the vessels and meet the crew.

Tall Ships America is a non-profit organization aimed at promoting sail training in North America, and supporting education aboard and about tall ships.

The city is seeking sponsors to collaborate and support the Tall Ships America event. For sponsorship details, call Kris Kochman at 262-653-4177 or email
