A train struck and killed a pedestrian in the Kenosha area Sunday morning.

According to Metra spokesperson Katie Dahlstrom, at around 8:45 a.m. Sunday, Train 810 southbound on the Union-Pacific North line struck and killed a pedestrian south of the Kenosha Metra station.

No details on the circumstances leading up to the fatal incident or the identity of the person killed were available Sunday afternoon, Dahlstrom said.

Train 810 was stopped on the tracks for two and a half hours while officials worked at the scene.

The Kenosha Police Department is investigating the incident with Metra’s assistance.

“We coordinate and work with the local police departments,” Dahlstrom said.
