A man out on bond for getting into a fight with someone at a bar has been charged with domestic battery, after his girlfriend told police he attacked her earlier this month.
The woman took to social media after the attack, posting about it on Facebook and uploading several photographs of her bruised face. As of Wednesday, that post had been shared 448 times.
Police were called to the woman’s Pleasant Prairie home at 4:42 a.m. Dec. 14 after a neighbor reported yelling, the sound of things being thrown, and the woman shouting for the man to leave.
When officers got there, they found the woman shaking and crying, with a large bump on her forehead and fresh cuts around her mouth. She said her boyfriend, Nicholas Kolbo, pushed her down the stairs. She was taken to St. Catherine’s Medical Center for treatment.
The Kenosha News does not typically name the victims in domestic violence cases.
Argument turned physicalAccording to the criminal complaint, the woman and Kolbo got into an argument that turned physical. The woman said she tried to run away and faked unconsciousness trying to get him to leave her alone, but it didn’t work.
She locked herself in the bathroom and tried calling police, but told officers Kolbo broke down the door and tackled her. She was able to get to the kitchen, where she said they continued to fight, causing her to fall back and hit her head on the stove.
She eventually was able to get her phone and finish dialing 911, before Kolbo grabbed the phone and smashed it on the ground, the woman told police.
When she tried leaving the house, according to the criminal complaint, Kolbo threw her down the basement stairs, which caused most of her injuries, including those to her head, shoulder, mouth, nose and left knee.
After that, she told police, Kolbo stopped fighting her. She told him to leave, and he did.
Officers reported the bathroom door jamb was broken, and there was blood found in the bathroom, kitchen and bottom of the stairs.
That afternoon, the woman called police again to report Kolbo had removed his things from the home and took $200 from her purse.
Multiple casesKolbo is charged with false imprisonment, intimidation of a victim, battery, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, theft and three counts of felony bail jumping. He is being held on $2,500 cash bond in this case. He had been released on a $750 signature bond in the other case.
In that other case, Kolbo was charged in March with battery, for punching Daniel Radon in the face after the two fought at Duke’s Country Saloon. Radon called Kolbo back after Kolbo had driven away, saying he left a gun in Kolbo’s truck. He retrieved the gun, then pointed it at Kolbo, who punched Radon in the face.
