"We saw about 50 thousand telehealth visits and about half of those were for mental health since the middle of March," Amy Herbst, vice president of mental health for the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, said during U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil's children's mental health forum. Herbst added that the federal waivers helped accelerate and expand access and encouraged those waivers to continue for both video and audio-only visits. "That has allowed us to take care of kids all over Wisconsin in a way that continued their care and started their care for kids that weren't established with us. It has to be true going forward. We don't see any other way."
