WisEye Morning Minute: Milwaukee County Exec. Crowley Vision Address
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley recently delivered his vision address highlighting the county's significant budget obstacles. Crowley explained that without any new spending, the county is estimating a budget gap of about $42 million this fiscal year with potential of reaching $60 million if the COVID-19 crisis persists. If Milwaukee County stays on this trajectory, the gap could reach $80 million in 2023 and $200 million by 2030. "We are prepared to weather this storm again this year utilizing our vision to become the healthiest county as our guide, but we are also clear-eyed that the only way to achieve our vision...is by securing a local long term funding solution," Crowley said.
