"The truth of the matter is, we are testing 5 to 10 times more than the regular citizens of the state of Wisconsin," University of Wisconsin System Interim President Tommy Thompson said in regards to college students following COVID-19 guidelines. Thompson talked about the system's diligence to protect students, faculty, staff and the community at large while acknowledging the "eruptions" of COVID-19 spread during the first few weeks. He also noted that students are responding appropriately with the intention to stay for the full semester. "Granted we've had some increases, but it's really attributable to the fact that we've increased testing, and we want to take of it. We want to take care of those students who test positive and that's the good part," Thompson said.
