State Senate Republicans voted to oust Gov. Tony Evers' pick to lead the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, Brad Pfaff. Republicans had their feelings hurt when Pfaff asked them to pick which five farmers would get vouchers for mental health counselling, if they didn't increase the funding for suicide prevention.  

Rep. Chris Taylor, D-Madison, a fierce opponent of basing the F-35 jets in Madison, has just returned from a trip to Burlington, Vermont, which was the first community to receive the jets. Rep. Taylor talked about the "chaos" the jets caused in the community, suggesting that everyone opposes these new planes. But progressive hero Bernie Sanders has supported the jets in his home state. 

Gov. Tony Evers called a special session of the Legislature to take up bills that would close background check loopholes and implement a red-flag law. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald quickly opened and closed the session without debate or discussion, despite broad popular support for legislation.
