Nearly 2,000 readers of the Kenosha News and the Journal Times in Racine voted in our comics survey in February.

it took a while to tabulate and share the results, which helped us come up with the Best of the Best comics which we begin presenting in both papers today.

When you pull out our comics section you’ll see some long time favorites and some intriguing newcomers that were favorites in Racine or are popular nationally.

We hope this will start you on some new comics adventures, both Sunday and daily. Our daily page starting Monday also will be Best of the Best, running in both papers.

What’s new is that horoscopes are now in the comics section Sunday and on the daily comics page through the week. Also, our daily comics page will no longer run in color starting Monday. The Kenosha News had been one of the only papers running daily color comics, and that production change is necessary now.

Your top favorites in the survey are all in the new package.

Your favorite comic, according to the Kenosha News survey results, is Crankshaft. Because of your vote Crankshaft will be introduced to Racine readers in this new package.

Your other favorites — all included in the Best of the Best — are, in order, Lola, The Family Circus, For Better or for Worse, Blondie, Garfield, Real Life Adventures, Zits, Pearls Before Swine, and Baby Blues.

You might like some of the new comics in our section that aren’t really new — Pickles and Peanuts.

And you might quickly enjoy newcomers Rubes and Slylock Fox.

Many of your comics survey ballots returned included several of the comics above as favorites. There were others listed, but dozens and in some cases hundreds of votes separated the rest.

Change can be jarring but in this case a change in comics might bring you new laughs and adventures. Enjoy them.
