It’s difficult to know how to respond to Janice Erickson’s letter entitled “Group chooses the right place for protest” published March 22. Either it was written sarcastically, or she is unaware as to the reason for the prayer group outside of Planned Parenthood on March 19.
You can google “40 Days for Life” to see the true purpose of this prayerful movement held all around the world twice a year. Currently there are 6,020 campaigns in 816 cities and 56 nations, with 750,000 volunteers participating, and it has nothing to do with supporting birth control access. Instead, these groups are praying for an end to the horrific scourge of abortion.
Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of abortions in our country, so what better place to pray than there. The main goal of Planned Parenthood is to provide birth control for women and, when that fails, to provide an abortion.
By searching, other agencies can be found that will provide quality health care for women that would not solve an unplanned pregnancy by eliminating a baby’s life. Many women who have chosen to have an abortion have suffered very serious after-effects. Some have even died.
President Trump is the strongest pro-life president in our lifetime. We applaud him for this and are hoping that, during his presidency, many pro-life measures will take place.
The humane answer to an unplanned pregnancy is adoption, not abortion.
