Kenosha County wisely refused to bid for the Foxconn project.
Now it is time for Kenosha County to withdraw its support for widening Highway KR (1st Street) to a four-lane divided road with median.
The proposed first phase is 2.8 miles from Highway H to Old Green Bay Road (cost $59 million). The government is taking 120 acres of people’s farms and front yards, including five complete houses.
In a few years KR would be widened to four-lane divided all the way east to Highway 32 (taking unknown, cost unknown).
Several hundred people attended the public hearing Feb. 28 at Somers. Citizens gave thoughtful, considered reasons for their opposition. Every speaker was applauded by the audience. No one spoke in favor.
We and our neighbors call on Kenosha County officials: Listen to the people you are elected and hired to serve. Choose the No Build Alternative.
