Man arrested for OWI had kids in car

A Kenosha man was arrested Sunday afternoon for operating while intoxicated with two children in the car.

Kenosha Police stopped the man in the 3800 block of 60th Street after a caller reported a reckless driver.

Police said the 49-year-old man had trouble standing upright. He reportedly told officers he was returning from picking up his children, ages 12 and 6, but could not remember his address or where he had just picked up the children. The children were released to their mother.

Trevor man arrested for 5th OWI

A 35-year-old Trevor man was arrested for operating while intoxicated-fifth offense after he allegedly struck a rock in the parking lot in the 2800 block of 80th Street Sunday afternoon.

A security guard called 911 after the car struck the rock, blowing out a tire.

When police arrived, the Trevor man was in the parking lot but denied driving. However, a witness said the man had been behind the wheel.

He appeared to be disoriented and told police he had used marijuana and Xanax during the day. He failed a field sobriety test.

According to the police report, the man also is facing charges for possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia and open intoxicants.

He was last charged with operating while intoxicated in 2015 in Illinois.

Man stops woman from driving after she hits a pole twice

A man stopped an apparently intoxicated woman from driving away after seeing her crash twice into a utility pole.

Police said the 61-year-old Kenosha woman crashed into a utility pole at the corner of 45th Street and Seventh Avenue at 8:43 p.m. Sunday A 21-year-old man who had been watching from his front porch said he saw the woman hit the pole with her car, then back up and drive into the pole again.

The man then went to check on the woman and found her again trying to put the car in gear, so he reached in and took the keys out of the ignition, setting them on the dash, he told police.

When police arrived the woman had a laceration and contusions on her face, apparently from hitting the steering wheel when she struck the utility pole.

The woman appeared to be intoxicated, but told police she had not been drinking. Police sought a warrant to take a blood test to check for intoxication.

She is facing a possible charge of driving while intoxicated-fifth offense.
