Boys volleyball roundup: Hawks, Trojans, Falcons advance

The top-seeded Indian Trail boys volleyball team made quick work of eighth-seeded Racine Park in a WIAA playoff opener Friday.

Indian Trail advanced to Tuesday’s sectional round with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-10 victory. The Hawks face fourth-seeded Racine St. Catherine’s/Lutheran, which defeated fifth-seeded Racine Case, 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 25-20, at 7 p.m.

“Minus our serving errors, we stayed in control the whole time,” Indian Trail coach Brian Sharkey said. “Everyone played and contributed. It was a great way to start the playoffs.”

Indian Trail’s Carson Bakkala set a school record for aces in a match with 11. Other leaders were Jackson Antos and Nathan Klimisch with 12 and eight kills, respectively.

Tremper 3, Bradford 2

The sixth-seeded Trojans outlasted the third-seeded Red Devils, 12-25, 23-25, 28-26, 25-23, 15-3 to advance to the sectional round.

Tremper travels to second-seeded Racine Horlick on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Rebels advanced with a 25-17, 25-15, 25-15 win over seventh-seeded Union Grove.

Central 3, Wilmot 0

The third-seeded Falcons swept the sixth-seeded Panthers, 25-20, 25-20, 25-19 and will play at second-seeded Franklin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Franklin moved on with a 21-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-19 win over seventh-seeded Greendale.
