Series note: These teams have a lot of recent history against each other, having met up during Week 2 in each of the last four seasons and once in the postseason. … The Red Devils are 3-1 in the regular-season meetings, with an average margin of victory of just 4.7 points. … Badger won, 22-0, in 2016 and also claimed a 42-26 victory in the first round of the WIAA Division-1 playoffs in 2017. … Bradford won, 24-16, last year at Badger for coach Troy Bowe's first win with the program. Receiver Damarion Williams, now a junior, had 3 catches for 91 yards, including a 76-yard TD in the fourth quarter.
Player to watch: After a strong sophomore campaign in 2017, Bradford running back Will Darden was injured in the first quarter of the first game in 2018. The 6-foot-0, 190-pound senior returned to the field for regular-season action last week and had 50 rushing yards and 27 receiving yards in the Red Devils' 15-0 loss at Waterford. Bradford would like to get Darden more involved, starting tonight. … "We didn't really get him involved until late (last week)," Bradford coach Troy Bowe said. "That was his first game in a year, and I think he feels a lot more confident having that game under his belt. He's ready to go, and hopefully we can get him a few more touches than we did last week and he can break some big plays for us."
Key stat: Always a run-heavy team under the option/flexbone system of coach Matt Hensler, the Badgers rushed for 238 yards on 34 attempts in their 20-7 win at Greendale last week. Badger rushed for 217 yards against Bradford last season, but it took 53 attempts. … The Red Devils allowed 307 rushing yards on 43 totes in their 15-0 loss at Waterford in Week 1.
FYI: Hensler has turned Badger into one of the most consistent programs in the state, as the Badgers have logged 13 straight postseason appearances out of the Southern Lakes Conference. They reached the Division-1 state semifinals in 2016. … The Red Devils have reached the postseason three straight years and 11 of the last 13, including their Division-1 state title in 2011.
